Since 1974/75 the year after Avenue had folded, I never new why City fans started to call us Stani, untill I was reading our Fanzine and I got a City Gent programme at the Avenue programme shop, Now I know but do you know why City fans call Avenue fans Stanies?

I may well be way off the mark here, but has it got something to do with the Asian population of Bradford?

Time to nip this in the bud before we have an international incident.

Is this the answer, under the nickname section.

I thought that? But no? Rocky Boro was right, looking through the collection of Bradford City programmes I came across a quite amusing story, about a man called Stan who in a mid-life crises he found he could not handle his life without BPA, he even didn't bother seeing his beloved Avenue play on Sundays, the article was called Boring Stan The Avenue Fan, you should read it it's quite funny I wish they would put it on tele.

I would not have thought there be any racist incentives behind the nick name you would have thought it be the other way around if there were, Bradford Park Ave at the time played in a mostly white area, i live only 3/4 miles from there & it still is mostly white at the South side of Odsal, where as Bradford City play by Manningham a 99% Asian area of the City.
Maybe it is was because they went the same way as the last team before them to exit the league Accrington Stanley.
