The programme, which I imagine to be common, and ticket have just sold on ebay for £127.
I have absolutely no idea why the price was not around £5 at most.
Can anyone explain why it commanded 18 bids and such a high price?
Thanks Cliff

Only thing I can think of is that it was Wayne Rooney's Everton debut, but as you say neither the programme or ticket are rare.

As goodison said, perhaps anything with the Rooney connection is starting to go up in value? After hearing great things about this exciting young prodigy , l wanted to be at his Premier League debut . I think it was the first game of the season. I was more excited by the fact that Tony Kay, a star of Everton’s 1962-63 team, was sitting behind us with l think one of his family and we had a chat Smile

That makes a little more sense even if it is crazy money.
I wrongly thought Rooney made his debut v Arsenal but that must have been his first goal.
Thanks Cliff.

Believe it or not, l actually once had a large chunk of his 18th Birthday cake in the freezer. My wife worked in one of the Liverpool hospitals and Rooney sent them the whole birthday cake for them to enjoy. She phoned me up and told me they were tucking into Wayne’s cake with a cup of tea. I asked her could she bring me a piece with the three lions on. I ended up putting it in the freezer thinking it must be a collectors item. About a year later ,we went on holiday for a couple of weeks. On our way out of the house the missus accidentally turned off the freezer . When we arrived back home, Wayne’s cake ,along with the fish fingers and the rest of the stuff had turned into mush Laughing

Difficult to prove it was his cake I guess even with the freezer on but impossible after it was turned off!!!
Amazing what people collect.
