Football Philately

Alongside my football programme collection I also collect football stamps and any other football-related philatelic items such as covers & postal stationery.

If any one has any football stamps/items available I would be interested in buying them (depending on what they are).

Whilst not an expert I do have a working knowledge of this area & if anyone wants any advice on any football philatelic items they own I can give a rough estimate of value.

Depends what sort of covers they are. If they're the Dawn Covers with an illustrated cachet on the left hand side then worth anything up to £3 each depending on condition. Does your 1988 cover have a Football League Centenary cachet? If so this may add a bit of a premium onto the price.

Same with the 42-games unbeaten cover. As well as being club-specific it's also a general football event which can add a premium.

Factors that can influence price include quality of postmark, the stamp that's used and autographs.

There are some very basic 'postmark' covers knocking about. These are just a plain envelope with a run-of-the-mill definitve stamp and a 'commemorative' postmark marking a particular event. These are virtually worthless.

Thanks for the info. They are Dawn covers with a picture on the left.

They were given to me as a present in about 1990 and I forgot I had them. They are in a photo album and I had never taken them out until tonight where I discovered an information card inside each envelope.

Do they still produce them?

I assume they are solely produced as collectables
