Not advocating gambling or that type of thing, but this daft bet came very close. The odds started at 3000/1 pre-season for Liverpool to do it. By the time l put £20 ( two separate £10s) on just before Christmas they were 500/1. Perhaps Madrid will win on Saturday ? I’m gearing up to have a punt on Man City doing it next season.. Perhaps it will never be done ? The trip to Florida has been cancelled and it’s back to a weekend in New Brighton! That will teach an Evertonian to back The Reds Crying or Very sad

Be careful making this public, Pie, your neighbour might end up with a bedsheet banner left outside his house saying ... "We know where you live, Pie, ya Redshite wool"

Littlewiggy, the story gets even worse. It was pre - Christmas and l was in a merry mood. I went in a few days later to see if my massive punt had made any impact on the odds. They were now 400/1 , so l put another couple of tenners on at those odds to put in family members Christmas cards. It was a bit of a stressful day on Sunday. A few bottles of San Miquel helped! I thought the whole thing might be over by February , Liverpool don’t usually go big on the League Cup. When it was still running come May l was starting to think there’s a chance. Oh well, l was given a hell of a good run for my money. I still think, if City keep that squad together, they might do it next season, but you won’t get those massive odds. It’s only money Laughing

Leslie, he’s got a hell of a job to do at United hasn’t he! There really is some talent there, but it’s turning them into a team. At the start of the season , when Chelsea signed Lukaku, l really thought they would be top two. Shows you what l know Laughing

So, not that mathematics is my strongpoint, but that stonewall "handball" penalty you scandalously didn't get at home to City, Pie, cost you the chance of potentially being one game away now from winning ten grand? Blimey, I hope you also sent a sternly-worded letter to the FA along with Fat Frank!

Mind you, if that had come off, I'd have been straight on here to ask you if I could lend a tenner.

Very Happy Very Happy

(For anyone who didn't get the "gag" in my earlier mail, it was based on the sheet banner left in the dead of night by Evertonians 'outside' Rafa's house saying we know where you live ... which was actually left outside his neighbour's house)

Smile

Littlewiggy, with the £20 that l put on for family members at 400/1 it would have been £18,000. I remember saying at the time to my missus, when Everton didn’t get the penalty against City, that will be the one that will probably spoil the bet. Mind you, whose to say they would have scored if they’d got a penalty? At this stage, l would have definitely covered the bet and talked the others into doing the same and backed Real to win The Champions’ League. So winnings would have probably been half the £18,000. I think Liverpool will do it, but as they showed against City , Madrid are no mugs.

Littlewiggy, Berbatov’s a good lad doing that. She was brave letting it ride. Saturday’s offer of £25,000 was not a great percentage when she was due to win £372,000. To be honest, l would have been very tempted to take it because l thought City would breeze past Villa. Then we have got the Real Madrid on Saturday factor as well! I went in early last week and made an enquiry about a possible offer for the four separate bets that l put on? It looks like you need to place the bet in a ‘ cashout ‘ betting machine to be made an offer...l didn’t, it was over the counter. Looking at that young lady’s offer it would not have been much, £500 perhaps? However, they were really impressive and said they would get back to me when they had a response.. Let’s just say lm expecting a reply any day soon Laughing
