What are everyone’s football related plans for the week ahead?

I will shortly be setting off to Northampton to watch Carlisle. I still collect the current season issues, but rarely open them, so expect to pick up a programme and hopefully a teamsheet and ticket go with it.

On Tuesday I will be at Carlisle United v Northbank (a team based in Carlisle) in the Cumberland Cup 2nd round. The match will be played at Penrith FC (a 40 mile round trip). There should be a photocopy teamsheet but no programme or ticket.

On Wednesday I have tickets for Man City v Bruges in the Champion’s League. As a long suffering Carlisle fan I find the standard of the football at City mind blowing. Being able to get a ticket for £20 is amazing (especially bearing in mind I have paid more than that for Northampton v Carlisle today). There will be a programme but irritatingly the tickets are uploaded to my phone.

Three very different matches which should all generate some form of souvenir.

If I can add a couple of programmes to my collection from eBay it should be a good week.

Saturday morning , Grandkids football . Sometimes two games at different locations. Probably the only live games l go to nowadays.. I try to avoid , not being that hard,, getting involved with some of the half- wit , aggressive adults who seem to stand on the touch line screaming abuse at young kids just trying to have a game. ( Told my missus to stop coming!) Being a sporty type, change into tracksuit then Saturday afternoon World Cup Cricket then any football that’s on SKY. Can’t be bothered with getting BT. This is accompanied by just two bottles of San Miguel, ( large) possibly a whisky as well. I like to stay in good shape for the week ahead.. Sunday and the rest of the week, more or less the same as above , at the moment both cricket and football on the TV. Keep telling my wife It’s not an easy life being an armchair sports fan.! Great deal you got Carlisle , watching that great City team live for £20. Keep on adding to your fantastic programme collection. You must have the best collection in Cumbria Laughing

Scanning photos mixed in with life as a carer, until next Saturday....

Palace v Wolves - this was the 1966 version (0-1 - better not be the same result then!). Dave Payne with the Doog.

Tuesday: QPR v Sunderland (League Cup)
Friday: QPR v Nottm Forest (Championship
Saturday: Chesham v Bracknell (FA Trophy)
Sunday: QPR Women's v Hashtag (WNL)
or at least it would have been had the pitch at Hanwell Town wasn't waterlogged!

We were trying on Friday to work out when was the last time that the R's had played at home twice in the same week without a Saturday being involved...???

Super hoopy - Went to Hanwell a few weeks back and was impressed with the ground and setup as Hadn’t been there for years.

I think the area generally suffers from poor drainage and surface water so be wary of heavy rain around match time. Back in the 90s I watched football at Viking sports FC who played a stones throw up the A40 on the hoover building side and saw a fan almost sink without trace in a puddle behind one of the goals!!

Actually Pete the photo is from May 1967, a nice sunny day as opposed to the game you mentioned when it rained. The good news is that we beat Wolves 4-1, a similar score on Saturday would be nice.
