I am very sad to report that Eamonn passed away on Monday of this week after a short illness.
The family may post something on the forum later.
Anyone who had dealings with Eamonn over the 42 years he was in business will know what a real gentleman he was, and an utter master craftsman.
First and foremost the loss of someone still so young is a shock to all, family and friends, and football acquaintances, and he will be sorely missed by all, including members of this board.
It is also a tribute to his artisanship that it leaves a huge gap in the world of book, map, and programme restoration - there was seemingly no wizardry he could not achieve.
How many rare programmes, and not so rare, were brought back to life by Eamonn from seemingly scraps of paper.
An annual treat for me used to be a trip to his workshop in the wilds of Metheringham, Lincolnshire.
If it was bad weather he would come to the station to collect me (unless it coincided with his important weekly badminton).
We would retire to his outhouse workshop alongside his house to discuss what work was possible on my battered programmes, before a good chat about the hobby.
He would also gladly explain what each of his pieces of equipment were for, I particularly remember the huge stone presses for flattening items.
Finally he would recommend the best pub in the village for a pint, before I would catch my train home, confident in the knowledge that a thoroughly professional job would be done.
Rest in peace Eamonn. |

That is very sad news. He was a lovely chap and a superb craftsman, I've said it before but his loss will leave a huge void among the collecting fraternity. My heartfelt sympathy goes to his family and friends.
RIP Eamonn |

I can only Echo what has been said before all is very true.
I started dealing with Eamonn when he was based in Bradford perhaps in the early 1990's, he did some exceptional work for me on many an item all of which i still have.
Sincere Condolences to his Family

Terrible news
With Anthony Holloway last week and Eamonn this week, it really is a sad time for the hobby.

Really tragic and sad news.
When I last dropped a batch of programmes of with Eamonn earlier this year we had a discussion about retirement as I had recently retired. He was approaching the age where he could draw his state pension but he had no plans to stop as he was his own boss and still enjoyed his work. He contacted me about 4 weeks ago to apologise for being unable to complete the work on them as he had a terminal illness. Such was the man.
A true professional and a nice guy. Deepest condolences to his family and friends.
