Had a look at Eamon Fitzsimmons site and he certainly is an expert in his field.

I have a few programmes that would benefit from his expert treatment, mainly cellotaped spines and over zealous team changes, has anyone used his services and do you have a rough guide as to what it costs?

No point getting the cellotape removed from the spine of a programme worth £30/40 if it's going to cost £50 to do.

I've used him, he does a great job.

Prices are not to bad although most programme don't fall in the the category of being worith it. As an example to clean text of a single page item it cost 15 quid but the more you have done the cheaper it gets.

It's very hard to say. Are you looking to sell or enhance your collection. I mean at the moment there is a terrible condition Sunderland reserve programme from the 40s for sale that will probably go for only a few pound. It would probably cost 50 or 60 to do it up and maybe you won't get that back in a resale. On the other hand it would be an excellent addition to my collection. I'm going to go for it. As i've said be for his work is brilliant.

Thanks for the links to the other threads, very interesting, it certainly puts a different perspective on "sub standard" programmes that I wouldn't normally buy.

Well I took the plunge and sent off a programme to Eamonn for restoration. It's a Wimbledon issue from 1922 I won on ebay last week, it's in pretty poor condition, let see what magic he can weave.

(The pic makes it looks better than it actually is, the pages are all hanging together......just......

Im sure the £21 from ebay and whatever you are paying Eamonn will result in an excellent addition to your collection and a large return if you were to ever sell on!

Well got the programme back today, what a difference! it doesn't feel like it's about to fall to bits when picked-up, and all pages are back together. Well worth the money

Looks fantastic really doesn't it?!!!

What does a restoration do for the programme in terms of value? Has anyone knowingly purchased a restored issue, do the prices differ from an original?

Well as I said above, this cost me £21 from eBay, and £40 to get restored - it needed quite a bit of work doing on it - so it's cost me £61.

Will I get it back? well I'm not looking to part with it but if I was, I would like to think £50 is a reasonable asking price, so maybe at the moment I wouldn't get all my money back but that's not really what it's about for me at this point in time. I enjoyed saving it from a grim future!

I've never bought a restored programme, but it certainly wouldn't put me off if this is the quality of work that goes into it.

I am waiting for two programmes Eamon is doing for me. The thing to remember is that it takes a long time , so don't bother sending any programmes if you are not patient. But as you can see, the work he does is amazing, well worth the wait. I've got another three to send off once the others arrive. I've took photos so i'll post the results.

1948/49 Sunderland v Blackburn Friendly. As these were both rare friendlies i decided to get them restored. The one above has aged as if left out in bright sunshine so not a lot could be done about that. It did have a horrible stain that was so thick i'm amazed that it's all but gone.
