Amazingly in this period of doom and gloom (I'm currently sitting here with no water or heating but that is another story) I had a dazzling moment on e-bay recently when one the few programmes that I need, came up.

I 'm not particularly flush but as I only need a few Pompey friendlies from the 60's and 70's, when one comes up I usually throw everything at it and win. So imagine my joy when I saw this one on e-bay. I duly watched it and made a note to come in at the end and win it. In my enthusiasm I didn't notice that the seller was open to offers. To my horror I saw that the seller had accepted an offer before the end of bidding! Gutted does not begin to describe my emotions.

I was going to come on here and share my misery, but as it corresponded with some messages regarding recently deceased members of this forum and the Bradford Fire, I thought that my disappointment paled into insignificance. Anyway that one has gone, the only time I have ever seen one. But life moves on and I am waiting on another wanted one hidden amongst a job lot. Hopefully by 6.30 this evening it will be mine. If so I will toast my success with a cup of tea, if the water's back on of course.

I know the feeling, I recently missed out on a West Ham programme where the seller accepted an offer 75% under what I was going to bid (and I wasn't even sure I would win it anyway)

The seller missed out on maybe £300 extra, I missed a programme I've been looking for 30 years but the winning bidder at least he was happy Mad

Still, lesson learned, always check if they accept offers!!!

You win some you lose some. Spotted a Waterlooville v Pompey friendly that I wanted hidden amongst 41 Waterlooville programmes. Learning from my previous mistake I contacted the seller and told him that I was only interested in the one. As he had not received any bids, he very kindly withdrew the item and put mine on BIN, just got it. Would have been gutted if someone had beaten me to it.
