We often wax lyrical about the old fashioned programme covers from the 1940s and 50s and rightly so. However, we tend to overlook some of the impressive designs from the 60s and 70s as featured in this interesting article.

Personally i find nothing of any interest cover wise after the 1950's but that is just me i guess.

The "United Review" since 1946-7 until 1966-7 was for me the best of them all in the UK, because it contained an image of the last home match on the cover and of course the famous player and supporter shaking hands above it all. What followed in the late 1960/70/80's designs wise was abysmal, so much so they brought back the player and supporter.

I suppose like anything, beauty is in the eye of the beholder-the other designs do nothing for me, my personal non MU cover favourite artwork programme cover wise has to be Hull City from the postwar 1940's-such powerful images. Sorry to have hi jacked your post, maybe set up a post for pre1960 covers or better still why not post on the football programme covers site, 33,000 on there to date https://flic.kr/g/7MMVT

Isn't it the case you favour the programme cover from the season when you really start to get involved with your club?
