Works out at neatly at about £100 per programme. There's some nice ones in there, but there's a good number of them with either rusted staples, browning, foxing etc. Somebody was willing to go high for them though, but I doubt at those prices and conditions it was a dealer?

And about £3000 or more in Messrs Toovey's pocket. Nice work if you can get it. But good luck to them, lots like this don't come round every day.

I would be surprised if it wasn't a dealer TBH

There were a few items in the opening blurb that weren't on the full listing and there were some beauties in there ....Corinthians v West Ham tickets x 2 plus programme caught my eye.

I don't know enough about non league pre war to say if it is a bargain or not.

If it was a Palace fan then he can probably offset a fair chink of his ( or her) outlay with the rest and take the average cost down.

But as Peter H says...not often such lots come around...almost fifty viewers on saleroom.

I wonder if we will see them again once collected collated etc...

We shall probably all be put out of our misery when the winner appears on Ebay shortly selling Palace homes in the late 1930's for over £100 when they might normally struggle to make £50 or £60. There are about 10 to 12 programmes into 3 figures (a few of those £200 plus) plus a couple of tickets (some of them were unsellable as they were akin to cloakroom tickets with 6d on them and no date and no club).

I also believe it was a dealer who probably paid about £3k too much.
However prices have been very strong at recent auctions so perhaps we will all be surprised.

As a Palace collector, I just like to have one home per (pre-war) season, and 1930's homes are not a hard area to collect. Most such stuff on ebay is over £100 but it's there if you want it.

To be honest, if the 1930s Palace homes were on ebay at circa £70 - £80 each, some might actually sell, rather than going round and round and round!

As you know dealers pay too much and then have to put them up for sale at unrealistic prices to recoup their outlay and as you rightly say they just go round and round. I wonder why they never learn. It is quite different if it is a collector as they should in theory beat a dealer but that of course depends on how deep the pockets are.

Surely if it keeps happening they are eventually selling them for profit, otherwise they wouldn't be able to keep buying new stock ? Either that or dealers have literally £1000's worth of stock that they can't sell because they overpaid for it ? Which I doubt.....
