Just announced on Southport FC website that sadly, from next season it will be an e-programme only.
We (collectors) seem to be losing programme printing clubs more and more regularly and it's sad to think in 5, 10, or 20 years time maybe no-one will issue.

I'd just use the £100s I spend every season on buying older ones instead.

Change of plan,from Southport website

There will be no printed copies available to buy on the day. However, and this is a change to the original plan, we will be taking orders for printed copies on a match by match basis but the order must be made and paid for online at least 7 days ahead of the game. We are now able to do this because enough people have taken out a subscription to make it viable

It is sad to see this increasing trend.

This weekend, I am looking to go to watch Canvey Island FC, just as I've no other game to go to. They do a great online programme, but I don't know if they print them for sale too. Does anyone know?

(similar case at a Farnham Town game I went to a week ago - free online edition, limited number of printed copies on sale on the gate, and they all sold - shows people still want paper even when online is free)

I know it sounds odd, obsessive even, and people on the NLM forum call them 'paper huggers' but I do like to keep a souvenir. I guess I'l be printing it myself if they don't sell copies!!

That's what they said about vinyl when CDs then downloads came along.

Now vinyl is making a big comeback as people realise something tangible beats an electronic file.

You never know, programmes might see the same decline then upturn.

Ironically I was watching a mini documentary on you tube about the resurgence of vinyl and the exact same thought crossed my mind about programmes.
