A few weeks ago on 15 March a Rochdale v Scunthorpe programme from 24 January 1953 which had creases sold for £919.00 ( yes nine hundred and nineteen pounds) on eBay. Can any Rochdale or Scunthorpe collectors shed any light on what makes this particular issue so valuable ?

The very next day on 16 March another copy was sold with best offer accepted showing as £4.99.

I don’t know how to do a link to the eBay sold items

This is a very rare issue on at least 3 scunthorpe collector wants lists. Although the issue was purchased by a friend of mine who collects Rochdale and this was one of 4 he required post war to complete his collection. It was thought this was possibly a non issue programme wise at it had never been seen for sale in the last 40 years

When an item has a starting price and best offer, if the offer is above starting price and seller accepts, then the item is sold with starting price shown probably to protect what buyer had actually paid for it.

The other one sold for £500, if you click on the item and view bidding history you can see the sale price
