An interesting site. Lists players who have sadly passed away over the years. Not all players deaths make the news,so some are quite a shock.

Shock to me,first one i looked at Alex Parker seen him play many game for Everton early 60s very good full-back was a master of the long lost art of backs the sliding tackle ( ask your dad or grandad). became player-manager of Southport 68 when i was a semi-pro there was a very nice guy and had a great nolage of the game .Sad news.

Alex Parker was a family friend - my Dad and late Grandad knew him well. He used to spend a lot of time in Grandad's company and, when Grandad's dog died he made a coffin for nothing for it (he was also a carpenter by trade) - it was buried in their garden.

My dad saw him a few years back, went out of his way to visit him at his pub in Gretna. By all accounts a true gentleman.

Also the first Everton player to appear in a World Cup Finals game.

Sad news re.Alex Parkers death .Saw him many times during 50s and 60s.
I believe he won a Scottish Cup Medal with Falkirk.
Condolences to his family.
