I don't have access to the sets of Chelsea Programmes from before WWI. There was played a charity game at Stamford Bridge on 13th December 1909 between the Stage and The Church a charity match for the Daily Mirror Christmas Pudding Fund. I know there was a programme as newspaper reports state they were sold by a number of actresses.

The result was seven one to the church, who were captained by the Rev Frank Gillingham the old Essex cricketer. The Stage were led by George Robey. Six of the Churches goals were scored by two of the famous Farnfield Brothers. My question is 'was it bound up'? If so, any chance of seeing a scan of it.
Thanks.[/b]

Hello,

Chelsea issued a 4 page programme for this match. I have a facsimile copy of the programme from the limited edition books Scott Cheshire published.

I will try & upload some pictures over the weekend.

Regards
Martin

Thanks Martin.
Vivien Woodward was expected to act as referee, but I don't think he did.

Many thanks Martin.

I think there were five Farnfield brothers who all played for Woodford. May be worth looking into their background.

I have the biography of Vivian Woodward which may well confirm that he did in fact referee the game.
