Anyone know what has happened with Goals & Wickets all links(www, ebay, facebook) seem to lead to a NLA.

Answered my own question via Twitter, Mark closed down G & W at the end of December 2018.

My apologies to everyone on here for not communicating this at the time but last September, I woke up one Saturday morning and realised that I had come to the end of the road with Goals and Wickets.

It had been great, interesting, challenging and rewarding in many ways. But I was trying to run it as a business making a decent contribution to my finances after having to give up a well paid job as a full time tennis coach with chronic knee issues, a job I had been doing for 14 years.

Although I had many followers, customers, sales and turnover, it was never enough to achieve this goal.

As many of you on here will appreciate, in a market where the bulk of transactions are low value, and with higher value items extremely difficult to buy at levels with a profit margin to be added on top in resale, you have to generate a lot of sales to get anywhere.

But other than straight financial considerations, I had become tired of the relentless nature of it, like endless daily listing of new items on Ebay. When you work 9-5, you can go home and forget about it. But with internet businesses, whilst you can work in a T-Shirt and are not answerable to a boss who hasn't a clue, it never goes away from last thing at night checking e-mails to first thing in the morning when you get up.

Also, since I hit 60, my enthusiasm, love, passion, call it what you will, for the modern incarnations of football, cricket and even tennis where I had worked for 14 years, had faded.

Quite simple, I realised that whilst I followed it all, I didn't really care about it anymore, sorry and sad that I am to say so.

Now 63, I have decided to try and retire by selling off a property down south and buying here in the NW. I will then work on my health (knees, hips), take some time out and decide what, if anything, I am going to do from there.

A massive thank you to everyone who followed me on here and made sales off Ebay.

I wish you all well and will continue to be a member of the forum but with a low profile.

Mark

Many thanks Seand.

May have been the effort to achieve high levels of forensic detail that ultimately wore me out!

In the early and middle years, it still felt like a good journey with the goal to be achieved somewhere in the future. But by the end, that feeling had gone and it all felt like a bit of a chore, sadly. Still, overall, it was a very good experience and certainly one I don't regret in the slightest, quite the opposite Smile

Anyway, will stay in touch on here.

Best wishes,

Mark

I echo other comments, wonderful detail, which was always appreciated.

One query though as I am gutted I didn't save the information, I hope you still have this info and would be willing to send it to me of post here.

You posted about ALL the variants of the Football League Reviews etc. Do you still have this info?

I would like to have it for my records but also post it on the definite SR/FLR/LR/NR thread I have.

Thanks

Thanks for the comments.

On the articles. I have kept most of them as word files (no photos just words), so if you send me your e-mail address on this thread or in private message, I will e-mail you back with the document as an attachment.
