This is one of those very rare single sheets from The Cliff in Lower Broughton, Salford, with the iconic "To Read hold programme to Light". United had no floodlights at Old Trafford, so they invested in the best floodlights at that time, looked like a tall lamp post!

Around 1950 United's A teams played in the Manchester League, local Gilgryst Cup, and the first 4 FA Youth cup games in 1952-3.

Some of the crowds were very sparse back then, hence the programmes are very hard to locate, the last competitive match played there was United Youths v Burnley Youths in 1956-7.

During the 1960's/70's/80's a few other games were played by local teams but nothing involving United.

Originally United bought the ground in 1939 from Broughton Rangers Rugby Club who moved to Belle Vue.

The club handed the ground over to Salford Council[but retained ownership] some years back and they continued to maintain it. In recent times they have taken it back and United trained there only this week before last night's match with Manchester City as against Carrington, to show the over paid frauds what the Busby Babes had to contend with as a reality shock, as well as Best Law and Charlton.

ANYWAY, this is a rare duplicate and I am looking to exchange primarily for something else United wise, yes a tall order, but if you do not ask....

Anyone wants to discuss further please contact me by the email address below-Thanks Wave
