I’ve written a piece about the renowned Italian stadium architect Pier Luigi Nervi and his flirtation with Swindon Town.

In addition to being responsible for the Stadio Artemio Franchi (Fiorentina) and Stadio Flaminio (Roma, Lazio) he was also commissioned to build a new stand for Swindon. However, his futuristic designs never made it off the drawing board.

Hope it might be of interest to some on here - especially if trying to fill the void during the international weekend Laughing

sbs1trg, thanks for posting that very informative piece. Staying on an ltalian theme, l obtained this press photo of Primo Carnera at Rome Airport for 50p recently. The former world heavyweight boxing champ was hired for publicity purposes by Alitalia Airline company to promote their opening of a new in- flight attendants service in 1950. Apparently the airline was one of the first to provide in- flight hot meals. The style of the uniforms was so influential that Hollywood stars such as Liz Taylor began to copy that style of dress. Nothing at all to do with football, but fashion buffs on this forum might be interested Laughing
