Came across this postcard today inside a programme.

Anyone know who "the late F.J.York" the postcard refers to was?

I presume Messrs Dickinson and Osborne were administrative personnel at the respective clubs.

W Dickinson was the secretary at Everton for a number of years, I have letters as far back as 1954 with his name on it, and upto early 1973 before a different name appears on them.

F.J. York joined the board of Northampton Town in 1950 and went on to become chairman of the club. He died on 24th March 1965. I have a card in my collection that the club sent out informing of his passing, picture below. I imagine this card would have been sent to all clubs at the time.

Thanks to you both for your informative replies.

A shame that Mr.York didn't live long enough to see the club play in the First Division.
