The picture below, I believe, is from the very first Inter-Cities Cup match betwen Basel XI and London XI. Indeed, this is the first match ever in any of the major European club competitions, pre dating the European Cup by three months.

Can anybody confirm the goalkeeper is Ron Reynolds (Tottenham), and the tall chap (in white shirt) is Jim Fotheringham (Arsenal) ?

No mistaking that long neck, definitely Jim Fotheringham.

I wonder if anyone can help ?

The attached picture is the London XI team in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup match v Lausanne (semi final – 16/09/1957).

The caption lists the eleven players but I am not sure they are in the correct order. I (think) it should be:
Back row: Fotheringham, Nicholas, Ditchburn, Evans, Charlton
Front row: Berry, McKnight, Stubbs, Truett, Woosnam, Haverty.

Just out of interest does anyone know who the three track suited persons are (presumably reserves / coaches who had travelled) ?

My apologies for the quality of the picture but it is a scan from a photocopy.

Thanks
