Hello all,

In the 1960's, Chelsea Reserves played two games against an England Amateur XI, 5.9.1965, and 5.9.1966.

A single sheet programme exists for both of these games, however, I understand that they are pretty scarce.

Does anyone have any idea of how scarce and their estimated individual value?

Best wishes

Kilfie

Both programmes used to appear fairly regularly on eBay a few years ago but cannot recall either on there recently although haven’t been looking too hard for them. I have a record that the latter one sold for £27 but not sure when that was.
Chelsea also played GB Olympic XI on 4/9/67.
All three programmes are single card.

They both appear on Ebay every now and then, both are sought after due to the fact they were promoted in earlier programmes as Friendly Matches and some Chelsea collectors class them as 1st team friendlies. I have all 3 including the GB Olympic 67/8 season and from the players listed they are from the 1st team and reserves. They normally sell for less than £20.

Hello Bob,

Many thanks for this information. I am trying to get as many details as possible about these games, as well as the Chelsea v England kick about in 1965 (80 mins) when Osgood scored 2 goals for England at Stamford Bridge. No programme issued.
Trying to find the attendances at present.

Whilst on the "no programme issued" games.. Here's one that is a little teaser.
Chelsea v All Ireland XI 16.1.79, which was postponed, I believe at short notice? Although there is no known programme for this game, we're any printed at all?

Best wishes

The 1965 game was played on 6/9/65 rather than 5/9/65. Were you aware that Tommy Docherty turned out in the second half of the 1966 game?

Hello Rocky,

Yes thank you, I was aware of that. 😊
Tommy Hughes and John Dunn both played in the 66 game, amongst others.
I have not found the attendance figures.. Still searching.

Best wishes
