Derby County v Luton Town - 27/10/1954 - Floodlit friendly

I had set my automatic bid for the above today, and had a message to say it was below the current amount. My interest here was for my floodlight collection. The final price was an eye watering £193, and attracted 3 different bidders over £150, well over 10 times what I would have paid!
Can anyone enlighten me as to why this was so sought after?

I think the novelty of floodlit football had simply worn off by that time - and Derby were second bottom of Div 2 at that point and Luton were in the same division and not, perhaps, much of a draw.

Derby had played 5 Floodlit friendlies the season before and attendances for these games peaked at just over 10,000 for the first one down to 4,135 for the last one.

Presumably a low crowd was forecast and the print run reflected that.
It's always been a hard one to find - my copy cost me £62 and that was way back in August 1996 (and it has a half-inch tear).

It is a particularly difficult one to find, this is only the second time I have seen it listed. About 10 years ago I paid around the £50 mark.

It is one of two Luton away floodlit friendlies that are difficult to find the other is from the previous season. Wednesday November 4 1953 away at Grimsby is the other, if anybody has one they are prepared to part with please PM me.

All the Luton home floodlit friendlies from this era are quite easy to obtain a quick look through eBay will find most of them.

Copies of this programme have sold on eBay before according to my records - £190.21 in 2013 and £97 in 2015.
