Just watched the end of Flog it and a collection of Manchester United memorabilia has sold for £1300. Only a quick glance at what was at auction and I am intrigued why so much was paid ? Will be looking for a replay on the I-player , but what a great price.

When you find out what the holy grail was in that lot, I'm sure a few on here would be interested to know Smile

It would have been the 1948 signed menu at Eccles town hall and the star badges

I saw this programme too and was amazed at the price fetched by the lot,yes agree galmpton the stand out items were the signed menu and the star badges, but the rest of the stuff didn't seem anything out of the ordinary,a rattle,58/9 programmes (they said) and a 1983 charity shield programme, say if the menu was worth £300-400 and the star badges £25 each (about 10 I think there was) that's only about £600,I reckon there was something very desirable in that bundle of programmes!!

That menu at Eccles Town hall is like hens teeth(and signed as well)--apart from Salfordians who has ever heard of Eccles never mind the Town Hall.
And then the star badges, worth way above £25 each to the collector and if Duncan Edwards, Roger Byrne, Eddie Colman(to name just 3), and the like were in there you could be hitting £100 each and above. Star badges are an enigma, cheap plastic with poor reproduced player portraits stuck on, and yet they remain one of the top 'must haves' to the serious collector and this applies to other clubs and not just Manchester United, though it is with United that the price level will hit the ceiling.

So, the question is, which forum member walked away with such a treasured lot?

Well done for an amazing buy, but it makes Joe Public think that their crap is worth a small fortune and that you are a miserly, criminal nasty for rejecting or offering seriously low amounts for their treasure.
