Is it a 1960s Arsenal player at Highbury?

Thedoog, thought it looked like him, but didn’t think it looked like Derek’ s signature on the pic.

It's a big Archie Leach stand by the look of it - the biggest clubs he played against while at Peterboro were Leicester in the League Cup in 64/5, and Chelsea in the FA Cup also in 64/5. In each case though, would Posh have worn blue & white?

Other than that, Coventry, Hull & Bristol City in Div III in 63/4? Does that stand fit?

Having obtained quite a few Doog autographs over the years Pie I would say it was authentic.

Good shout on the Coventry one Posh played there, 63/64 Div 3 somthing like 30,000 there so possibly but it still looks like Highbury to me.

Obviously not a N lreland shirt, but you have got those Benefit / Charity end of season games, of which he probably played in quite a few.

On the historical kits site it indicates that Peterborough played in that kit between 1963-1965.

Ground looks very much like highbury but as noted above Peterborough did not play Arsenal at highbury during that period.

My immediate thought was Upton Park too until I noted the fixture issue above with the Posh.

How about Football Combination games?

Arsenal, West Ham & Peterborough played each other in the Football Combination in both 1963/4 and 1964/5, Doog's only seasons at London Road.

It's quite possible he'd have had the occasional game in the stiffs if the first team weren't playing or he was coming back from injury - or, perish the thought, had been dropped.

Healthy crowd though...………….

Can not believe a F. C. game would attract that attendance Pete.

Suggest we find someone with the relevant programmes. What other options are there?

Might be a sizeable crowd, other parts of the ground may have been closed. They probably got 4000 or 5000 gates in those days.
