For some reason that quite surprises me, Pete.

Had you down as a good few years younger than that!

Took a redundancy package last year and decided to retire early rather than rejoin the rat race. Spent previous 30 or so years as a nerdy scientist working in healthcare.

Programme collecting is a very insular hobby - I always imagined that serious collectors had jobs which allowed them to maintain/reinforce that particular personality trait.

Attention to detail and a tendency towards pedantry are another two traits which may well be common amongst us all?

I do a specialist job in Local Government (in a team of 1, ie myself!) which is basically detailed record keeping and maintenance of data to also produce property searches. It's perfect for the sort of detail and insular person I am. I get to keep myself to myself and absorb myself in all the fussiness of it!

Following careers in the print trade and then owner of a stationery supplies company, I then spent ten years as an Area Manager for a FTSE 100 Financial Company. Made redundant just over three ears ago and now sell football memorabilia and other collectables for a living......also a published author, currently working on my second football book.

My obsessiveness over going to football matches means I could never do a job where I'd have to work evenings or weekends, or indeed (not be able to) take a day or afternoon off if I need to get to an evening game.

So in a way, my football obsession has kind of determined my life choices.

Even as a teenager, I did paper rounds for years rather than get a (restrictive) "Saturday job" like so many of my peers!

Professional bed tester...

I had to put that down as it was used in one of the player bios for Ashford Town when I was younger, it then appeared in all away programmes!

I work in the CIAM sector (Customer Identity and Access Management) as an implementation Consultant.
