An elderly relative of mine has an original copy of the match programme from the Inter Cities Fairs Cup Semi Final First Leg at Stamford Bridge between Chelsea and CF Barcelona dated 20th April 1966.

I have researched this item and the match appears not to have taken place on this date as records show it was actually played on 11th May.

The programme looks genuine and authentic and I presume it was printed for the original date but never used.

This may well be a very rare item as I have not seen another copy anywhere on the internet.

A rare find perhaps ?

Never seen before, extremely rare. It could easily sell for £1000 imo.

It appears the match was called of due to a waterlogged pitch on the morning of the match (20 April 1966). This was due to have been the first leg. The 'second' leg played a week later on 27 April 1966 became the new first leg and the rearranged game at Stamford Bridge was finally played 11 May 1966. As both matches finished 2-0 to the home side a playoff was required on 25 May 1966, which Barcelona won 5-0.

I'm very grateful for that information, thank you.

As the match was called off on the day I'm sure a programme would have been printed, it would appear that this is the only one that has survived !

Some find. I'd strongly advise selling in an auction house.

Good advice in my view, several alternatives are available on this forum and the pleasure of choice is yours.

Many thanks for all your help and advice.

My cousin has an account on Ebay so he is going to put it on there.

It will be interesting to see what sort of response it receives.

Good luck with it.

Obviously make sure it is listed in the correct place with plenty of photos and details. Also any provenance etc to help as some people may be suspicious that it is a fake.

It will be interesting. please post a link here.

My personal view is that it would do better in an auction house even allowing for the higher fees. However I'd expect it to also go very well on ebay.

Hopefully that decision does not back fire on your cousin, please make sure they are aware of the pitfalls of selling high value items on Ebay I would hate for them to end up with no programme and no money which is quite possible.

You will also get lots of offers to end early, from experience hang fire and resist the temptation
Also a Sunday evening auction finish date is advisable

I strongly agree with garyspain.

If you do offer this item on E Bay only offer tracked and signed for delivery.

It’s on eBay now for those who may not have seen yet.

Item number 401571413966

Good luck with achieving a good price.

UK bidders only!!! It probably makes no difference now after the sad passing of a certain Barca collector a while back. He would possibly have outbid the Chelsea guys.

The final price will be interesting.

As it could, quite possibly, go for more than £1000, the seller should've opted for the higher special delivery compensation category and make the postage cost at £12, at least, as he'll lose 10% of post cost. He's then able to be compensated for up to £2500 using the £9.60 special delivery service.

He'll lose as much on eBay as with an auction house, I'd guess. With an auction house though, you could wait a month or three for their next auction and could wait a week or two for payment. Choices, choices.

Not a CFC collector but it'll be interesting to see what this goes for!

Looks like he has a mate bidding it up as well.
I can't afford items like this but i enjoy watching them, to see how they do.
As soon as somebody bids there is an immediate counter bid in a £50 increment from "somebody else"
