The biggest programme fair of the year takes place on Saturday 2nd June 2018 when the annual Premier Programme Fair is staged at London’s Royal National Hotel, Bedford Way WC1H 0DG 11am – 4pm.

Since the event moved the Royal National in 2010 the attendance has been a consistent 700/750 collectors which is by far the biggest fair attendance in the UK. The number of dealers exhibiting is also significantly the biggest assembled this year. I would urge all forum members to make the effort to come along.

As well as presenting their usual high quality stock and all this seasons big match programmes a number of dealers take extra space to bring along many thousands of additional programmes to sell at £1 each or less!

Not only does the fair give you the chance to add to your collection but also to chat and put faces to the names of the dealers, auctioneers etc. The fair also represents an excellent opportunity to meet fellow collectors and forum members for a chat/swop/drink etc… The hotel has a bar and there are numerous restaurants in the vicinity and at the nearby Euston/Kings Cross stations.

I have listed the participating dealers so far below (in no particular order) with a brief stock summary. I have also included their business email addresses should anyone wish to make contact for particular requests.

Graham Budd Auctions – We are delighted to welcome Graham to the event for the first time. A former director at Sotheby’s, Graham runs without doubt the UK’s most prestigious sports memorabilia auction house. His twice annual sales are held at Sotheby’s, New Bond Street and as well as offering auction advice Graham will be giving away previous auction catalogues free of charge. These catalogues are extremely high quality and make excellent reference material. A fantastic gesture which I am sure will be very well received.
[email protected]

Westward Programmes - Gordon Bennett without doubt exhibits at more programme fairs than any other dealer! What makes this even more remarkable is the fact that he makes the long trip up from Devon for the vast majority of them. Gordon carries a huge variety of stock much of which he obtains on his travels around the Country attending fairs. [email protected]

Stuart Kennedy – Kenners39 on the forum. Wide range of programmes with a particular speciality in Crystal Palace, Tottenham and big match issues. [email protected]

Sporting Profiles – Perry makes a welcome return to the fair offering his ever popular sets of trading cards, programme cover mugs and assorted football memorabilia and curios. [email protected]

Bookzone – John Bacon presents his fascinating display and selection of football books and associated memorabilia. [email protected]

North West Middlesex Programmes – Lee Hermitage has been on the scene for over 25 years. Working firstly for the Hayes FC club shop and now as a dealer in his own right. [email protected]

Elmo Books – Karen and Emil have one of the finest selections of football books and other sport titles that you could hope to find. This vast stand will also offer vintage magazines, autographs and a host of other football memorabilia. [email protected]

Chelmer Programmes – Stockists of a wide variety of programmes. Particularly strong in East Anglia and Non League issues. Keen Sunderland fan Dave Stonebank usually has some rare Mackem’s material also. [email protected]

D G Taylor – Lymington based Dorian is one of the few remaining ‘hard copy catalogue producing’ dealers in the business. Fine stock of vintage programmes covering all clubs though QPR, Bournemouth and Accrington Stanley a speciality! [email protected]

Martin Lane – Chelsea specialist and a selection of all other clubs and categories.

Steve Harding – Prominent Peterborough United collector and part-time dealer. Poshimp72 on the forum.

PM Publications – Founding Programme Monthly editor and co-organiser of this event John Litster offers his vast array of PM back issues. Stockist of bespoke programme binders, football history books and a selection of programmes from his huge archive. [email protected]

Soccer History – Editor Ian Nannestad offers the latest edition and also back issues of this high quality quarterly magazine devoted to the heritage of our national sport. [email protected]

Programme Monthly - Co-editors Paul and Kevin meet and greet the loyal band of readers of the World's greatest 'football programme magazine’ Pick up the latest issue and meet them in person. [email protected]

Mick & Alex Hewitt
– Yorkshire’s largest dealers, huge selection of programmes with a particular emphasis on Leeds United. [email protected]

Terry’s badges – One of the UK’s leading football badge specialists. Enormous selection of badges League, Non League, foreign etc. You name it Terry will have it. [email protected]

footballprogrammes.com – represented by fair co-organisers Elaine and David Allen. Pick up your copies of all the end of season big match finals and Internationals and view our fine range of vintage programmes. Show specials include over 1,000 excellent condition 1960s programmes available at £2 each, over 500 European Competition programmes same condition, same price. Books, magazines, badges, bargain bundles, Non League… Something for everyone at this stand! Check out www.footballprogrammes.com and email any requirements for collection at the fair to [email protected]

Football Programme Outlet – Specialists in cut price programmes. Everything on this stand is just £1. Programmes from the 1960s onwards including FA Cup Finals, European Finals etc... Bound to be worth a rummage!

AB Programmes – Louise and Alan Benedick present a vast array of programmes and memorabilia - Ipswich Town being a particular speciality. [email protected]

Ellis Programmes – Romford based Ellis has had a stall at West Ham United and Romford market for many years. Stockist of all London clubs and big match programmes. [email protected]

Martin Scott – Specialist in all types of football memorabilia. Regular England away followers will have no doubt bumped into Martin selling his badges from far flung places such as Kazakhstan to Montenegro! [email protected]

Martin Silverman – Bushey based Martin has stalls at both Arsenal and Tottenham. Another long established trader with a wealth of knowledge and experience gained over more years than he cares to remember! [email protected]

Richard Posford – Keen Essex based Man Utd fan Richard has a huge stock of programmes with, you’ve guessed it, a heavy United bias! [email protected]

Steve Smyth – Steve has stalls at both Arsenal and Chelsea FC. Comprehensive stocks of both clubs from pre-war to the current season. [email protected]

Kim Clark – Resident Chelsea expert with an unsurpassed knowledge of Blues programmes. Comprehensive stock of home and away programmes from pre-war to the current season.

JW Binders – Stockists of high quality football programme binders. Ideal for storing your most treasured and valuable items.

Leonard Evans – One of the longest standing collectors on the London programme scene. Leonard offers his spares for sale and is always happy to share his wide knowledge on Arsenal, England and Russian football collectables. [email protected]

Spurs Collectables - Spurs specialist Trevor Jones presents a huge array of Tottenham Home and away programmes plus other Spurs memorabilia from Pre-war to date. [email protected]

We all look forward to seeing you there...

I always enjoy this fair, as it provides an opportunity to meet so many collectors from all over the country that I wouldn't meet otherwise
As a relatively new dealer, of less than six years standing, I try to cover all aspects of second-hand programme collecting: Big Matches (Internationals, Finals and Semis); A decent range from virtually all League clubs in England and Scotland plus a few from Ireland (although with a slight bias for West Country clubs as I am based in Plymouth).
I shall also have a wide range of over 400 English and Scottish Non-League Clubs programmes with me, including v League Clubs in the FA Cup and in Friendlies, (again with a slight bias for West Country Clubs); plus a range of Reserve and Youth team programmes and Teamsheets.
Because I travel widely throughout the country attending Fairs, often buying more programmes than I sell, I am constantly replenishing my stock, so collectors often find something on my stand that they are looking for!
If any collectors wish me to bring any specific items to this Fair, please contact me by email on or (preferably) before Thursday (as I shall be driving up from Plymouth on the Friday). [email protected].

Can't believe it's that time of year again - NWM Football will be attending for the third successive year, have a three table stall confirmed, with my good lady assisting as she does at the big fairs.

You can expect to find the following on our stall on Saturday......

http://www.nwmfootball.com/finals-semi-finals/ Plenty of F.A. Cup Finals (all since 1947 currently available), League Cup Finals, Charity Shield, Semi-Finals, Scottish Finals (recently topped up), F.A. Amateur Cup, Trophy & Vase Finals etc.

http://www.nwmfootball.com/international-matches/ England homes back to the early 1950's, together with a selection of Scotland, Wales, N.Ireland, Eire homes

http://www.nwmfootball.com/classic-magazines/ All in great condition and neatly kept in order, the listings detail the posters in each issue - Charles Buchan Football Monthly, Goal (which include a few signed ones), Soccer Star, Football Weekly News, Shoot and Match (although website listings currently only up to 1985, later issues up to 1990 are in order and will be available), "new" Football Monthly - the most comprehensive range of magazines you will find at Saturday's Fair

http://www.nwmfootball.com/classic-corner/ Plenty of folders with pre-1960 items (including some great pre-war London items in particular), while there'll be a couple of crates of 1960's programmes at £1 each. Pre 1970 Non League also available.

http://www.nwmfootball.com/friendlies-testimonials/ Handful of folders packed with some gems from a couple of quid each.

http://www.nwmfootball.com/cup-final-special-deals/ I secured a sizeable stock of Big Match items from Steve Earl a couple of years ago. Naturally, they can be bought individually, but these are worth considering if you want to build your collection quickly and cheaply, perhaps want to an encourage a younger fan to start collecting, or even if you want to buy some to sell on.

http://www.nwmfootball.com/complete-season-sets/ Pretty self explanatory, another ideal way to add to your collection at good prices, and not necessarily from clubs you may first think of !!! I obtained the Coventry City sets in an exchange with one of my regulars a few months ago, the programmes are immaculate, and my guess they came from someone connected with the Club as someone had typed the team changes onto labels and carefully cut and stuck them on the individual issue.

http://www.nwmfootball.com/women-s-football/ A developing are of football which seems to be attracting, I can boast a little family connection here as my late uncle David Marlowe was Chairman of the WFA between 1972 and 1977 and was one of the driving forces in setting up early leagues and the Women's F.A. Cup. Anyway, there are few interesting odds-and-sods now assembled into one folder, so you might find something different to add to your collection.

http://www.nwmfootball.com/european-competitions/ Nice selection of finals, and four crates of programmes featuring British Clubs in the major European tournaments for you to rummage through.

http://www.nwmfootball.com/luscious-laminates/ Carefully harvested from scrap and excess stock magazines !!! Ideal if you need a cheap pressie for a family member or a friend, or would like some great pictures of past players in classic kits, £1 for A4 posters, £3 for A3 team groups.

http://www.nwmfootball.com/other-sports/ There are a few odds and ends to choose from if you collect items from other sports (there are a fresh batch of 1980's/90's England Rugby Union Internationals to be added to the listings which I picked up car-booting over the weekend). The gems in this section include a programme from the 1946 World Snooker Championship, the 1951 Derby, plus a handful of Test and tour match cricket scorecards, some of which date back to the 1940's.

In addition to these key areas of stock, there'll be plenty of DVD's (and even a few items on VHS), books, shirts (replica and player issue - found some late 90's Brentford ones at the weekend !) and other collectables. If there are any items from the general lists you need, please ensure you make contact no later than Thursday.

Look forward to seeing you on Saturday, wishing all collectors an enjoyable and successful day.

Lee

I will be a stall hold at this Saturday's Premier Programme Fair. If any Forum members attending the fair you can either drop me a PM here or visit my website www.football-program.co.uk to see if there is anything specific bringing along to the fair.

Cheers

Hi,

If any stall holder (or indeed any other attendee) on Saturday has any Hungary-related tickets or programmes, vintage Newcastle United items or European club semi-final tickets, I'd be interested in seeing them.

Thank you in advance,
Matt

Well worth making the effort to come along, very busy this morning and I picked up some great stuff for the collection. Worth making a beeline for Graham Budd, selling five old auction catalogues for a fiver - great bedtime reading Smile

The Biggest Fair of the Year with 30 dealers and average attendance
of 700 yet apart from Colchester Sid no comments at all.

Was it great with collectors getting great deals and filling gaps and
dealers having a good day?

This is a programme forum and fairs bring dealers and collectors
together, so for those of us that could not attend what happened?

A few thoughts:

1. It definitely seemed the busiest for many years, possibly because it was the same day as the England game which kicked off at 5pm

2. I'm sure I'm not the first to suggest this but it would be useful to have a sign behind each stall with the dealer's name - I knew some, guessed some others but did not know the rest

3. The venue is great for being so central but did feel cramped this year. There was no seating inside and the seats outside were mostly taken. No refreshments either (although there is a pub next door)

4. Entry very reasonable at a pound - I would almost say, charge more and add some value - raffle a quality pre war programme, print off some decent quality bags, branded with the fair details, to hand out (useful to hold the day's purchases and a bit of free advertising)

5. Dealers to have lists of what is on their back board and what folders and boxes are on their tables - average age of the collector there was, well, a little old - my eyesight is pretty good and sometimes I struggled to see what was on offer

Overall I was very impressed with what was on offer - lucky there was a free ATM in the hotel lobby! - but I think as the "Premier" Programme Fair there is an opportunity to make it a bit more special.

Some good comments from colchestersid with which i agree. It was a very busy event and quite cramped but just enough space. Prices were quite interesting (!) on some of the older stuff and in my area of collecting ie arsenal were in some cases nearly double the prices on ebay or at auction.

My main gripe is that i wish more dealers took tickets more seriously. Some dealers said "yes i have tickets but none with me" and a few just had a shoe box with tickets chucked in it randomly almost as an afterthought and make you lose the will to look through it.

A few however did a great job with organised boxes or folders of tickets and credit to them.

Overall picked up a few nice bits so a decent day plus caught up with some familiar faces.
