I've got a batch of four items on my way to me which I picked up at the end of last week. So I've popped the bloke a message across saying "please confirm postage total and I'll send payment" (obviously I'd made the fair assumption that he'd tweak postage to reflect this).

Received the curt reply that he only does ebay via his phone and laptop so "can't combine postage, please pay as normal". While I have picked up the bits at reasonable prices (a couple of late '40s West Ham amongst them), I have been stung for £10.44 on postage.

Seller's already left positive feedback for me as I paid immediately, but I object to being ripped off so will be leaving some stinging remarks, including how much in total it has cost seller to post them, when they arrive.

Nothing as serious but went into my seller level as I saw my late postage percentage had gone up.

On checking I had been marked for late arrivals by two buyers, even though both sales had been in the last period of snow, eBay had issued an email stating postage might be late.

I had mailed them both prior to dispatch stating we hadn't had a collection and unlikely to, the amber warning meant little was leaving Cornwall as it couldn't get through Devon and I would walk the mile and a half to the post office to make sure they had gone but to expect a delay.

Everyone got the same message, everyone was reasonable and understanding but still had two late arrivals and one was from someone living in Devon in the Amber warning.

You get the feeling some people just like to complain.

Well, the four items have just arrived. I can't decide if the bloke has been deliberately devious or has got "A-level stupid" tattooed on his forehead.

All four items sent separately and all with recorded delivery (but still about two quid less in total postage than I've been charged).

Walks away, shakes head in disbelief that such people are breathing the same air.......
