I picked this up recently - it's from West Germany's Youth tour of Ireland in 1956.

I've managed to find out that the second date (16th May) was Munster Youth versus West Germany in Cork, but does anybody know what the first game (13th May) was in Dublin?

Sadly, that's one even my pal Google couldn't answer.

Cheers.

Ooh nice. I don't know anything about the Dublin game unfortunately, but I'll have a little dig later. Suspect it would have been a Leinster FA youth team but I don't know

Cheers Sean, you're a star.

Yes, Leinster Youth would be very feasible, that's a great shout.

Very much appreciated mate.

I'm pretty sure the game was against a Home Farm XI. If so a programme exists. I can't out my hands on it to confirm the date though.

Thanks very much Gary, that's interesting, hopefully the mystery will be solved shortly then.

Very much appreciated mate.

Actually maybe not apologies the Home Farm game was in 1959.

It may have been a regular full youth International.

Ah, ok, many thanks for the update buddy.

I think I might have found it on Google had it been a regular youth international, so maybe Leinster Youth is favourite.

Cheers.

Our youth Internationals are not listed online anywhere.

I'll try and dig it up in the next couple of days. Just back from watching Sean's team scrape a narrow 8-0 in over mine.

Lol, sounds like a game that could have gone either way Gary.

Smile

Yeah, I did a good search myself for the Eire Youth Internationals and came up blank - I also tried searching West Germany's. I only discovered the second date in Cork was versus Munster Youth by luck, because typing in the date & venue threw up a written article about an Irish player who starred in the game.

Thanks again buddy.

Yes they just sneaked it. We're not very good in the snow.

Just to confirm that the other game was a full youth International in Dublin - Rep of Ireland v West Germany. I have the programme and confirmed the date.

Wow, that's fantastic - thanks very much for all your help buddy, it's really appreciated.

It's great to be able to note the actual games. You & Sean are stars!

Cheers buddy, I thought it was a nice curiosity. Not valuable, but neat & interesting.

I think the West German Football Association produced these for all their annual youth tours, as I've since seen another for Holland in 1960.

Yeh I was a bit gutted to miss the 8-0 but I was late in from work and the snow was coming down fast, so it wasn't worth racing up. Still, it's been all of 3 years since we last hit 8!
