I hope others enjoy seeing old photographs especially if there is some mystery about them. Here is one I have had for a few years. i had hoped it might by Leyton FC winning the Amateur Cup?

There are not a lot of clues. Clearly a cup final as the piles of medals ready and this has to be the winning captain.

It has never been posted and nothing on the back apart from where the stamp would go - T.I.C inan inverted horseshoe.

Perhaps there should be a separate section for displaying old postcards etc?[img]

Good idea for a separate thread for photos & postcards...

However, where is this one?

Leyton won it in 1927 at New Cross and 1928 at Middlesbrough.

It's before then surely. It looks Edwardian to me.

However, it's not the Amateur Cup trophy as that has ear-shaped handles, and it's more ornate.

Lovely photo though.

This is a terrific image, I would concur that the image looks Edwardian around 1905-15 or so.

A youthful crowd at front plus wives etc, could it be an amateur / schools final?

Is it just wishful thinking that it is Leyton , or did it come with other associated items.

Ayresome Park did have a wooden type stand, but I don’t think this is it.I do know that there are some very well informed Boro fans, who collect postcards.

Thanks for sharing!

Ian

Wishful thinking. But that does remind me, that it came with others all from around London and north Kent.
