hi there,
my partners father passed away in March last year and left us with a couple of thousand programs dating back to the 50s. he was a massive Leeds supporter,so would say about 90% of them are from the Yorkshire lot.we are moving soon, and sadly we have no use for (I'm a spurs man and have already came across a few Chelsea numbers from the 50's and 60's which I definitely don't want them in the new house lol). we have no idea what theyre worth,so would be fantastic if any of you guys could help out or maybe have some leads.
thanks again,
ian

Hi Ian, there's an eminent and very fair dealer specialising in Leeds United memorabilia called Mick Hewitt who collects Leeds and runs his business with his son Alex. In 20+ years of collecting I've never heard a bad word about him so I'd suggest you contact him (Tel: 07860 192787, email: HEWITTPROG @aol.com) if you want an easy, honest deal.

Your other decent option is putting them into Sportingold's or Sporting Memorys' auctions. f you want to go through the collection in more detail, you'd probably get the most money by selling them in smaller lots (but individually pre-1965 or if they're European aways, friendlies... etc) on eBay, but that will be more time-consuming.

Good luck and if there are any European match tickets in there, I'd be happy to hear about them!

The date was 18th April 1962 and the programme might be worth £1-£2 on a good day.

Good luck with the others, Mick Hewitt is one of the good guys.

Whilst there are no stand out programmes in there that would fetch decent money, there are programmes - that if you have the time and patience - would fect between £2 and £4 each. Collectively, that would be the best way to sell to maximise your profit, but if you're looking to sell quickly Mick would probably be your best bet, but don't expect any kind of huge amount for them he'd have to sit on them himself for long enough.

we was thinking about doing them as a job lot due to the 100s of other teams in there too pal.

If you can list the games as you just have now and would rather let the market decide the price than take a dealer's offer (such as Mick's or the gentleman's above), then auctioning them all in one lot for 10 days on eBay could be useful to you. Just make sure you describe or photograph any with major faults, e.g. tears, splits, punched holes, writing, parts or pages missing... etc. I'd imagine you'd get three figures for them all. By the way, the George Best debut programme looks to be worth around 20-30 pounds in good condition.
