I have received a couple of these in with a bundle of Spurs tickets that I recently purchased.
At first I assumed it was some kind of car sticker, but it is on normal paper and appears to have old tape marks to the edges.

Does anybody have any idea what the "Grief or Greaves" was about?
I have googled it and nothing comes up.

Obviously the old Jules Rimet World Cup is shown on each end, so I'm guessing it had something to do with the 1970 World Cup?

Any help as always much appreciated.

Sounds a bit like one of those 1970's / 1980's bands who went under names such as Half Man Half Biscuit the Joan Collin's Fan Club, George Best's Wedding Present, Ken Dodd ' s Dog is Dead. With it being homemade, could be a bit punky. Some of these home made advertisements were quickly put together to advertise forthcoming gigs.at the local Polytech or Students Union venues. Just a hunch! Hope the great man( Jimmy Greaves) is doing okay.

Perhaps it was to do with Alf Ramsey's dilemma before the '66 final,
when he had to chose between Hurst and Greaves for the final?

Could it be linked to the 1970 WC London to Mexico Rally that I posted about recently mate? ...

Thanks for the replies so far.

I want it to be Flaming Pies guess as it's so random Very Happy

Don Quixote2 - I considered that, but thought it unlikely due to the limited time between games? My gut feeling is that it was something that was debated over a longer period of time?

Wiggy - The rally was my initial thought to be honest, but I was stumped by the "grief" bit.

Remember Five, some of those bands only played a few gigs under certain names and then disbanded or changed their name. If it's the the likes of the Sex Pistols or U2 you could be well in. I did once pick up a collection of The Smiths posters at Tranmere Rovers car boot for pennies. They sold for a good few quid😎

Could it be an advert or flyer for Greaves Sports in Glasgow? Biggest sports equipment shop in Scotland and been around since before the war. Maybe a Spurs fan saw it and thought it was a nice pun on Jimmy
