I can only comment on the bidding. Interesting to see 3 only bidders, after £270, there were just the 2 'had to have it' left who ran each other up, perfect scenario for a seller; As to why this was worth so much I leave to those with specialist Scottish knowledge. |

Queen of the South, my local professional team are a very collectable club as there's two or three committed collectors who pay very good prices. There used to be a lot more of them until 3 or 4 of them dropped out of collecting a number of years back.
I once picked up 70 plus pre WW2 QOTS homes about 25 years back now, which stood me in very good stead indeed. I'd not beein up in Scotland that long and thought pre WW2 programmes were similarly priced all over the UK, so gave the guy £400 - about £6 per programme - and thought I'll need to work at this a bit to get my money back.
All the big teams went for about £80 to £100 each, and the smaller ones £30 to £40. Reserve programmes against Hibs and Hearts also went very well, but I got caught out on those as I let them go for £20 apiece at one of the Edinburgh fairs, to find out later they were probably worth nearer £100 each. You live and learn. |

I think Scottish programmes from war onwards are scarce as there does not seem to be a collecting culture so supply and demand. The first Halifax v Doncaster from 1912 was on sale for £4000 but that is self explanatory. Any Scottish 1940's seem to sell for money compared to English and I cant remember ever seeing a Scottish pre war. £900 for that one does seem steep?? |

Shame about that rusty staple....he could have asked for more.
Worth circa £5-£10 on a good day, if that. |
Very steep that. However Middlesbrough 1950's are pretty scarce,as I have gaps in my collection from that era but not £400 plus though! |

This just shows what happens when two bidders are desperate to buy a programme! They must both be bloody nuts!! And they must have far more money than sense! However much I want a programme, I set myself a firm limit and if it goes above that then I won't be buying it |
It's a BIN not auction item |
