Interesting, as you see from above, they ended up playing Hearts that day!

Thanks to everyone for the continued info.

Ah, I didn't realise that Tynie, I'd always wondered why the game was never played.

Wien obviously got a better offer mate!

Thinking about it, it might not have been Admira, could have been FC Wien. I don't get the impression from the Hearts programme that the fixture was short notice (and they had faced Kilmarnock a few days earlier)

Here’s are a few scores and additions gleaned from some newspaper archives. Some reports recognise the Austrians as Admira Vienna rather than Wien. A couple of programmes have also been identified.

18/11/53 Plymouth v Admira Wien 2-4. Programme issued, on eBay presently.

19/11/53 Luton v Admira Vienna 4-2

An addition to the list – 25/11/53 Man City v Admira Wien 3-2

An addition to the list – 30/11/53 Bury v Admira Vienna 3-1

01/12/53 Notts County v Admira Wien 3-5 att 12,670. Programme issued, on eBay presently.

I’ve seen a newspaper article which previews the Stirling Albion v Admira Wien game which was due to be played 17/04/54. However, Stirling played at East Fife on that date. The Rothes / Elgin X1 fixture was scheduled for 19/04/54.

An addition to the list - 19.05.54 Derry City v Admira Wien 2-4

The indicated 09/11/55 Kilmarnock v Admira game was actually 09/11/54. Kilmarnock lost 1-6

15/11/54 Leeds v Admira Wien 3-1 att 8,000

Super stuff Rocky, much appreciated!

The Stirling game did take place (although obviously not on the original date) as there is a programme, and the game is mentioned on their website.

Bohemians programme above and Waterford posted earlier.

The Bohs programme is reasonably common and does turn up. The Waterford one is very scarce. I wasn't aware of the Derry City game until I read it here. I'm not aware of a programme.

The Plymouth programme is pretty easy to come by...

I have at least one probably two copies...

Swindon played SK Admira Wien on 10 February 1954.

Swindon won 3-2 at the County Ground in front of a crowd of 6,813. Scorers for Swindon were Lambert, Sampson and Bull for Sk Admira Wien Josef Hamerl and Karl Burgstaller.

And i've never seen a programme so if anyone is aware of one please let me know.

Many thanks, it seems they had 4 tours to the UK in the space of 12 months! and I suspect there's more games from Feb 1954 to be found.

I’m not too sure about the Swindon v Admira Wien game. The following link is off an excellent Swindon stats website and it does state that they played SK Admira Wien.

http://www.swindon-town-fc.co......1954995000

However, looking at the SK Admira Wien player’s names in that link, some seem to match those who played for FC Vienna in the game v Crystal Palace (see Pete’s image earlier in the thread). FC Vienna were also known as FC Wien. Looking through newspaper archives of the era, the Swindon game is advertised as v FC Wien as is the result.

It appears that FC Wien did tour England during February 1954 as some detective work has highlighted the following games:

v Watford 8/2/54, lost 0-1
probably v Swindon 10/2/54, lost 2-3
probably v Weymouth 16/2/54, drew 1-1
v Exeter 17/2/54, drew 0-0
v Rotherham United 20/2/54, lost 0-4
v Crystal Palace 23/2/54, lost 3-4

In conclusion, I’d say FC Wien toured in February ‘54 rather than Admira Wien.

That's some excellent research, thanks for that. I'm in touch with the person who runs that Swindon site so i'll let them know.

Found this thread while listing my Inverness Select vs Admira Wien programme from 1953 on ebay. Didn't realise the tour was over the whole of Britain! The Inverness select team won 2-1

The listing has still 6 days to go if anyone is interested https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Inverness-Select-Vs-Admira-Wien-football-programme-from-1954/253871464055
