Hi all

I got this nice little (postcard size) photo from Park Avenue and it's dated 1966, BPA in their all-white kit, with the presence of Kevin Hector (near left), Ronnie Bird (far left) and Jim Fryatt (centre - who has signed it).

So my question is - any ideas on the oppo, please?

I've blown up the visiting trio....

All help as always gratefully accepted. Thank you.

Can't help with the photo sadly Pete, but I posted this article on PA on the 92 thread last week - it's an interesting read for those that never saw it ...

Really enjoyed reading this article on Park Avenue (& especially the comments underneath) ...

Still puzzling over this one Wiggy. I've been through HFK checking all the likely visitors in 1966, can't find an all-blue or all-red match specially with white socks with hooped tops. So could be an away kit.

Very interesting article on BPA, a very sad day when they folded.

Ronnie Bird signed for Bury 11/1965 to 03/1966

Signed for Bradford PA 07/1961 - 10/1965..

So the date has got to be 1965 and not 1966...

Anyone in the Yorkshire television catchment area watching Calendar this evening will have seen a fascinating piece on. Bradford Park Avenues old ground with part of the terraces still there although covered in weeds and other crap , also a few old diehard supporters with a few stories to tell.

Good shout Westbourne.

Fryatt signed in June 63, and Bird left in Oct 65 as you say - Hector was there all the time and they wore that kit from 62 to 67.

So it could actually be any time between August 63 and October 65 - but as someone wrote 66 on the back, I agree with you that it's probably 65/6 season in its early stages.

I've got the Soccerdate All About Avenue so with the three known Bradford players there are 33 possibilities. I've added the keepers where I have other volumes in the same series although a full list can be compiled from other sources including online. It's then just a process of elimination . . .

If the pic is 1965-66 it can only be
24/08 v Rochdale Simon Jones
or
28/08 v Barrow Lionel Duffin

For 64/65 there's (working backwards)
Tranmere
Rochdale Ted Burgin
Barrow Lionel Duffin
Brighton
York
Torquay Terry Adlington
Crewe Geoff Hickson
Chesterfield John Osborne
Halifax
Hartlepools Ken Simpkins
Lincoln
Millwall
Stockport
Southport
Notts County George Smith
Aldershot David Jones
Doncaster

And from 1963-64 when Fryatt joins
Torquay Terry Adlington
Tranmere
Hartlepools Ken Simpkins
Workington
Southport
Carlisle
Rochdale Ted Burgin
Bradford City
York
Middlesbrough League Cup
Bradford City League Cup
Chesterfield John Osborne
Newport

Brilliant KJD, thank you so much. Barrow was one of the possibles in my guesswork.

Indeed, Barrow wore white shirts so would have had to change - and their socks were white with blue hooped tops. So I reckon it's

BPA v Barrow, probably 28.8.65 with Lionel Duffin in goal.

Plus the 28th was a Saturday, so looking at the picture that kinda seals the deal - Barrow it is - which was my first guess on seeing it #honest
