When the subject of ebay has come up in the past I`ve always mentioned ebid, its free to list and the final sellers fee is (I think) 3p in the pound or 3%.

So you can list as many programmes etc as you want via the buy-it-now and pay no fees until you sell, I know the sales their are low/slow but if we all listed something there I`m sure the sales would increase.

Also if you know the buyer is from the forum you can organise the paypal payment to be via friends & family after they use the buy-it-now so no fees other than the 3% final sellers fee.

I have tried ebid and even though I can list for free for life there the problem is ebay is where the buyers are. For me the big wins on sales have always come from ebay where you get competing bidders so I still like it and simply price accordingly to cover their ridiculous postage issues and fees

The reality is that ebay doesn't "need" collectibles and specialists as it is now primarily competing with the likes of amazon for BIN business.

So I kind of agree with Tynie...those are the rules and if you make contact re an item and then try to do the deal offline Once you have their email from the payment then there is nothing they can do about any other deals you do and that has been a good option for me in the past.

Oh and Davekatie I think you will find the re are five z's in zzzzz! Do try and keep up!

Don't feed the troll guys.

EBay kicked me off for a week for ending a bunch of auctions early, so I could list the whole lot as one "Buy-it-Now."

All of which was clearly written in the messages that were exchanged between the interested party & I.

Yet I never got the chance, they hoy'd me off there as soon as I'd ended the auctions. Literally seconds later.

When I asked why & explained that I'd clearly told the buyer I was going to list them all as a bulk BIN for him, they said they'd suspended me because I might do an outside deal.

Yep, I got kicked off not for something I'd done, but for something I might have done.

Go figure, as our American friends say!

Like I said, law unto themselves unfortunately.
I didn't contest it thereafter because I'd had warnings about sending a pic of my Paypal address etc in the past, so had clearly pushed my luck anyway. It was just ironic that I got a red card on the one occasion I was actually doing what they wanted me to do.

Confused

A bit late now but you should have relisted them with buy it now as new auction listing and left the original auctions running and edited the title and descriptions of those auctions for new programmes or items. Otherwise you get banned for 1 week unfortunately as soon as the item is removed after a question has been asked, it's picked up by the ebay bots.
I've actually resorted to changing my settings in ''manage communications with buyers'' - ''Allow buyers to send you messages on eBay while they're shopping'' to NO. It's really not worth getting banned for allowing someone to contact you to offer to buy something (normally cheaper) to SAVE THEM money or offering you CASH less 10% etc out of ebay etc. No point biting the hand what feeds you off.

Cheers Cossie, I'll keep all that in mind for next time mate.

Reminds me of getting done for getting a fine and points for speeding at 37mph in a 30mph zone at 3am in the morning, when during the day I was hitting a ton every day on the motorways with no penalties.

Davekatie, have you been blocked from all the transvestite webcam sites or something, you seem to be on here rather a lot the last few days!

Not me they didn't Roughie, I was blocked from buying and listing any new items for sale for the whole week.

The only thing they allowed was the sales I already had running to remain, but you couldn't make any revisions etc on them.

That was the most frustrating bit, not being able to bid on the badges I was already "watching."

They don't let you know when your suspension is up either, you have to guess.
lol (but true)

I've had this message to so have stopped myself messaging looking for an early deal which is a shame. Never mind will have to bid and hope for a good deal now. I've got lucky I've had a few personal emails sent to me from sellers after they've got my email from PayPal invoices offering me stuff because people see my eBay username so hopefully that will continue to happen before eBay manage to stop that Laughing

Can you imagine any other large company treating their customers like Ebay do? M & S or Sky for example telling their customers that if they don't behave and don't do as they're told they won't be able to buy from them anymore?? Very Happy

An agreement is when both parties agree not when one changes the rules, they can bugger off, I have kept all notifications of payments made on ebay through paypal so I have all of the email addresses of people I have bought from, they have started hiding email addresses on ebay transactions on your paypal account but they can't hide it on your email notification of payment.

We were told these were different companies now, but we all knew that was bollocks.
