After an enjoyable trip to London for the Giant New Year Fair, I am now busy organising a fair on my own doorstep:
THE SOUTH WEST FAIR at the Tribute Lounge, Main Grandstand, Plymouth Argyle FC, Home Park, PL2 3QD on Sunday January 29 (10.30am - 1.30pm).
I will publish a full list of stall-holders in a few days time, once it is finalised. I can already confirm that Tom Roe is coming down from Lancashire, and there will be two other local dealers as well as myself, Paul Gibbs from Liskeard and Paul Buck from Teignmouth.
It is a spacious venue so we can easily accommodate up to twelve stands. Anyone wishing to join us as a atall-holder, please send me a PM or an email (see address below).
My stall will, as usual, cover all aspects of second-hand programme collecting: Big Matches (Internationals, Finals and Semis); A decent range from virtually all League clubs in England and Scotland plus a few from Ireland (although with a slight bias for West Country clubs as I am based in Plymouth); I shall also have a wide range of over 400 English and Scottish Non-League Clubs programmes with me, including v League Clubs in the FA Cup and in Friendlies, (again with a slight bias for West Country Clubs); plus a range of Reserve and Youth team programmes and Teamsheets.
Because I travel widely throughout the country attending Fairs, often buying more programmes than I sell, I am constantly replenishing my stock, so collectors often find something on my stand that they are looking for!
If any collectors wish me to bring any specific items to this Fair, please contact me by email on or (preferably) before Friday January 27: [email protected].

Hi Gordon,

Just to let you know that it is my intention to attend your fair at Argyle and will be on the look out for all items to do with Millwall.

My Post War 1st team wants list is below for your info and hopefully for other traders attending.

Some 1940s friendlies are also needed, as are Reserve issues pre 89/0; many youth issues and tickets; any ephemera and lot's of Pre War.

I hope that you get a good turn out and that some one is able to help with my collection.

Look forward to seeing you then.
Ian

Nine stall-holders have now confirmed that they will be attending the Fair at Home Park this coming Sunday. Their details (in no particular order) are:
ARGYLE FANS TRUST: Will have a variety of items on sale, including old programmes, football books, current and back numbers of the fanzine ‘The Grass is Greener’ and Trust merchandise.
PAUL BUCK (Dawlish-based): Has an attractive array of programmes from the 1950's onwards from the Devon clubs, a mix of other teams and Big Match programmes, magazines, books and badges, including some autographed items.
PAUL GIBBS: (Liskeard based): A well-established dealer selling all types of programmes for keen collectors, plus Big Match issues etc.
RAY HAWKINS (Appledore based): A collector looking to down-size his stock. Has a variety of programmes, including European, FA Cup and League Cup Finals and lots of Man United.
PAUL McDONNELL: Another local collector looking to down-size his stock. Will be selling programmes from a wide variety of clubs.
MIKE O'BRIAN-KELLY: (Plymouth based): A Manchester United and Big Match specialist dealer, who also trades in Corinthian figures, Cards, Tickets etc.
TOM ROE: (Lancashire based); A nationally-known specialist in memorabilia who has a wide array of vintage and autographed items, including menu cards, photographs etc, and who is also always keen to buy good-quality material collectors may bring to fairs.
PAUL TRUSCOTT (Plymouth based): Prominent Plymouth Argyle collector and co-author of the Illustrated Collectors Guide to Argyle Home Programmes 1945-2001, who will be selling mainly Argyle programmes, plus books and memorabilia.
WESTWARD PROGRAMMES (Plymouth based): Programme specialist, with a wide range of Big Match, League, Cup and Non-League items, with a particular bias towards West Country clubs, including stacks of Argyle homes and aways.
There may be a tenth stall-holder, but he has yet to confirm.

I have a stall on Sunday at the Plymouth fair.

I intend taking a bit of a mix.
Some basic programmes of a handful of clubs that I grab from the stock boxes, with plenty of Plymouth, Torquay and Exeter obviously.
A few folders of big match programmes and some 50's too.
Various books (including my own Very Happy ), some badges and anything else that catches my eye on Saturday when I am sorting.

If anybody from the Forum is attending, please say hello.
It would be great to put faces to some names!

Paul

I wasn't intending taking any, down to space in the car.
Is there anything specific you are after as I would be happy to see what I have?

Home Park will be busy on Sunday morning, as the Green Taverners will be holding their weekly Car Boot Sale on the Upper Home Park Car Park and the Players will be training in preparation for Tuesday's game at Yeovil, in addition to the Programme Fair.
Please can Programme Fair patrons, therefore, use the Park & Ride car park.
To gain access to the Fair, patrons may walk through the Car Boot Sale and use the double gates adjacent to Turnstile 26 (i.e. opposite the Club Office Reception), gaining access to the Tribute Lounge via the lower set of steps. (The main entrance to the Grandstand is not being used for the Fair - it is reserved for the Players.)

We now have an eleventh stall-holder:
ERIC PINCH (Tavistock) He is in receipt of a variety of football memorabilia from a deceased relative and is wanting to move it on to collectors.

My sincere thanks to all the stall-holders and collectors who made the Fair at Home Park yesterday such an enjoyable event.
Now looking forward to the next one in January 2018 - the exact date to be fixed when the fixtures for next season are known.

It was a good atmosphere at the fair and I sold a few bits and equally spent on a few bits too as is the way!
Shame about the fire alarm causing us to evacuate into the pouring rain while we waited for the fire brigade to turn up, but all good fun.
Thanks to Gordon for his efforts putting it all together.

Also really good to finally meet Fishy from the Forum after feeling like I've known him for ages....Told you Millwall would beat Watford Ian!! Wink

You certainly did Paul and what a good game we played, topped off with a superb goal......... now for our next opponents!

Good to meet you too, and Gordon of course who's organisation worked a treat - you just can't plan for fire alarms! Very Happy That was my cue to get away and get home to watch the match.
