Hello

It was only when I scanned this programme onto my flickr page that I noticed that the opponents in the original programme, Crystal Palace, were not the team that played the re-arranged fixture!

Unusual I thought

cheers

Yep,we took a supporters coachload and it was postponed

As far as I knew it was never rescheduled. I guess they found different oppo as it was mid-season, bit odd though as Palace didn't have a game on the miweek of 7/10/1992

The original game was supposed to be against Palace, always thought it a strange decision. That game was called off, cannot remember why and the game was eventually played against Birmingham which to be honest made more sense having a local side for the testimonial. Game ended 1-0 to Blues.

Martyn Bennett was a cracking centre half who if not for injuries should have been an England international, (like Derek Statham and others if they had played for other clubs they would have got more caps) got called up to the full squad once but injury saw him pull out.

Bennett also had a match against Villa but for Worcester.

Checked with someone who would know, game against Palace was postponed due to waterlogged pitch despite Walsall playing at home same night.

Programme was reissued with wraparound purely due to costs
