Among a nice pre-war batch I got this week (mainly Burnley) is this one which is mounted on card so I can't see what's on the back - if anything.

Does anyone have any clues please?

Looks like a B inside an oval inside a shield

All help appreciated as always - thank you.

Hi Pete

The ground looks like Burnden Park, home to Bolton Wanderers at the time.

Front row second on the left looks like David Jack

Still trying to work out if is Bolton Wanderers FC or an representative team

Thank you Nutfield, 9/10 VG.

I am reliably informed that it is indeed Burnden Park and also it is David Jack front row, 2nd left

It's Football League v Irish League, Burnden Park, 4th October 1922

Result 5-0. Att 10,000.

H Pearson (WBA) - GK
T Clay (Spurs)
A Maitland (S Shields)
F Kean (Sheff W)
J Carr (Middlesbro) - back row, far player left
S Wadsworth (Huddersfield) - back row, 2nd player left
B Cross (Burnley) - which is why it's in this collection
D Jack (Bolton) - front, 2nd left
T Roberts (Preston) - holding ball
T Meehan (Chelsea)
A Dorrell (A Villa)

That terracing in the background looks very much like Burnden Park, Pete.
Where the 1946 disaster occurred.

It's featured in the movie "A Kind Of Loving" which I have a copy of somewhere. I'll need to check for you.
