Spurs youth v Liverpool north end 1950 friendly

Does anyone know why this friendly was played and who Liverpool North End were?
I assume it is a region of Liverpool?

Interesting one this and I suspect that Liverpool North End were a youth eleven from the same region as ex Liverpool stars Tommy Smith, Chris Lawler and Jamie Carragher. Phil Thompson and Terry Mc Dermott both hail from Kirkby which at that time was a small Lancastrian village.

None of the North End players feature in Liverpool's lists of ex players, maybe the Evertonians on here may be able to solve this mystery....

I believe Liverpool North End were a British Rail team, based at Aintree

Geoff Boycott would have been 9 at the time of this game so, no it's not him.
