I stumbled across the following link for this auction -

www.juliensauctions.com/auctions/2016/pele/index.html

There are some amazing items there, but way out of my price league. I dont think they have done a very good job of advertising the sale.

Is anyone here planning on attending or buying?

Looks like they are a Los Angeles based auction house but holding the auction in "London, England".

It still does not explain the poor advertising.

'It still does not explain the poor advertising.'

They did well enough to get a slot on Talksport H&J show a couple of weeks back.

Ah, that is why I missed the "advertising".

I have some Edson Arantes do Nascimento press photos and rather than use an auction house I offer them here:-

Estimate for this lovely lot of 7 original press photos featuring the World's best-ever footballer, "Pele":- USD 500-700.

Special offer to FPC readers:- only £4 - £10 each via Pete's Picture Palace.

Apologies, my above post is incorrect.

The catalogue is on The Saleroom.

The auction venue is Beverley Hills. I assume the London bit was a touring exhibition of the lots so potential punters / interested parties over here could see the goods.

With a buyers premium of 28%, VAT of 5% on the HAMMER price plus delivery charges, UK Import taxes and I reckon you need to add around 50% of the hammer price to get the goods back here.

OUCH!!

Its not all together clear martino, but looking at their website, it does appear that the auction will be held in London.

You are absolutely right to bring up the point of their 28% rate of commission. For our Football & Sporting Memorabilia Auction, to be held on the 50th anniversary of the 1966 World Cup Final, at Adam Partridge Auctioneers, we will be charging a far more affordable 15%!

The following link on The Saleroom under "Auction Details" says Beverley Hills.

Agreed that your commission is a lot cheaper. It is at the back of my mind that you also offered a 10% rate for new sellers?

The auction is definitely taking place in London.... the Saleroom info is not correct.
Buried in the Julien's website is this:

EXHIBITION AND AUCTION LOCATION
Mall Galleries
The Mall
London SW1
(Next to Admiralty Arch)
England

I agree that the above is on their website but that differs from The Saleroom. Very confusing.

Is that the auction that Andy Lane is working hard to get consignments for?

It isn't an odd comment. He has specifucally referenced your auction in a call I had with him regarding items for potential consignment. He is currently trying to attract items for your auction in July

If there is no truth in this, then i would suggest you contact me via PM so that I can supply email correspondence etc.

Of course there is no truth in it NYGiants. As the person responsible for the auction, I can confidently say that I have never seen or communicated with AL in my life, so why would he source items for us? I'd gladly hear from you, if you have any information to the contrary, so that I can extinguish any doubt

The gentlemen is correct I'm sure. This company refused to have anything to do with Mr Lane. But they were approached. They did not want their reputation ruined. We should be careful what Mr Lane says. He is a liar as we all know too well.
