I think others, along with myself, were aware that there must have been issues with FSA for a while because of what was going on - I was a fairly regular vendor with them because I'd always received excellent terms from Andy. Payment way before others, low commission rates etc were standard. Two sales when I didn't receive payment as previously started the alarm bells ringing and I realised he was in trouble. The extent of it has come as a major surprise.

Perhaps we need something, maybe on here, where folk can send any concerns they have about certain individuals so others can be alerted if the alarm bells start to ring again?

In fairness John, the poster Fistral brought the issues of FSA to the forum's attention back in May 2015. It was then widely discussed and I still remain amazed that anyone who posts/reads this forum regularly still entrusted their precious commodities to Mr Lane.

The alarm bells were ringing 12 months ago.

To be fair there was not a huge amount of concern. And many people came on and supported Andy Lane . Not because they were lying , but at that time he was more or less paying people. I kept checking the forum, as this was obviously the first place to find out if anything was wrong. Up to February this year there was no sign of any trouble. With hindsight , i should have got in touch with a few members. I have since heard many stories about him , and obviously he was as dodgy as hell and if i knew at the time i would never have gone near him.

The plot thickens for me.
I was at the creditors meeting, obviously just after the liquidation etc and have received more paperwork from absolute recovery....but

I received a phone call today from liverpool trading standards, and after talking to them as far as they are aware there has been a complaint to companies house to object the liquidation, which she said to me would have to put the liquidation of the company on hold so they can look into it.
And this is what i was told by the lady on the phone at trading standards.
Seems as i predicted this is only the start of things. Theres no way i am prepared to swallow losing this money, money from selling my fathers life time collection..money i was hoping would help pay back a loan i had to take for his funeral in february! Im sure like most people effected its not just the money but im sure alot of sentiment behind it to.

i was told Liverpool trading standards, would be getting in touch , but so far nothing. I'll try and ring tomorrow. Like you say , even if it leads to nothing, more pressure and bad publicity can't be bad. What about the Liverpool local newspapers ?

I'm on the list of creditors received from the liquidators but I'm showed as being owed £0.00. This is because I have no idea how much the 10 lots I submitted for the March auction realised - or indeed if they all sold. I am owed either money, my programmes or both. Did the auction go ahead?? If so does anyone know if the results were ever published or indeed has made a note of them? I need to advise the liquidators of the true amount Lane owes me.

Yes the march auction definately went ahead. If you speak to the liquidators they should get a vendor invoice from mr lane which will list your lots and what was sold and how much etc

This might not be the worst time to get in touch with the Liverpool Echo.
Football season coming to an end, but at the same time suggest this is a news story rather than sport, just so's one asks for the right dept.

Wirral Trading Standards
South Annexe
Wallasey Town Hall
Brighton Street
Wallasey
Wirral
CH44 8ED
Tel: 0151 691 8638
Fax: 0151 691 8098

They are very keen on this, take my word. How it will help, I'm not sure but I would think even the slightest whiff of fraud and it will soon become criminal matter.

Basically the liquidators won't give a shit. They'll do the minimum , take their fees and bugger off. If there is any hope it'll only come from Trading Standards , but it won't be easy . The Cameo fiasco was very complex , and took a long time to get convictions. But once so many people complained , that got it rolling. So i would recommend everyone owed money to ring them . They will certainly dig much deeper than the liquidators ever will. It's really finding a bit of evidence that will point to fraud. All said and done at the moment , it's just another business gone bust. Again , give any details of a non payer you may have evidence of . Almost everyone i know owed money has told me he had the excuse of a non paying client.

"finding a bit of evidence that will point to fraud"

I know a collector who consigned a players medal to FSA. It sold but the vendor never got paid, but he saw it appear on ebay about a month ago-advised the seller and then went around to see AL the next day and obtained some stuff back but no cash.

If you want the collectors details then send me an email and I think you can have a chat to him.

Any chance of a new thread with a summary page, basically listing who to contact, what steps to take, ebay accounts to look out for, that sort of thing. Although not affected by this 'person' I'm very interested in the topic and hope those involved get some kind of positive outcome.

Just a little concerned at first glance, anyone looking for the vital info. may miss key bits of detail amongst the 8 pages this thread has now gone to.

A simple one pager will do and then ask no one posts on it ? Would also serve as a reference point for anyone else affected and stumbles across the forum

A good idea. A closed thread sticky with details of addressees to contact.
Permanently on top of the forum for key points. Anyone finding this thread having lost money should be interested in everything said , but they could miss something .

OK, I will give it a go, but I will post it on here first in case anyone has any comments:

Football Sport Auctions Limited, a company specialising in auctioning football memorabilia, ceased trading on 22nd April 2016 owing a large number of people a considerable amount of money.

The company is owned by Mr Andrew Lane, 13 Holm Lane, Prenton, Wirral, CH43 2HN Tel 07588 594664

There have been many allegations of fraudulent activity by the company including many promises of payment made by Mr Lane which have not materialised, along with the fact that Mr Lane was still accepting consignments for future auctions when he was unable to pay for items sold in previous auctions.

An alleged customer calling himself Gill James came on to this forum claiming that he had been paid in full for items sold in the March 2016 auction when many people had not been paid for the September 2015 auction.

As at today's date the company website is still active and still asking for consignments for future auctions.

The company is currently being liquidated and if you are owed money or goods by the company you should send details to the liquidators as follows along with any concerns about the company's conduct:

Stephen Penn/David Hines
Absolutely Recovery Ltd
Fisrt Floor, Block A
Loversall Court
Clayhills
Tickhill Road
Doncaster
DN4 8QG
Tel: 01302 572701

You should also contact the local Trading Standards office, which is:

Wirral Trading Standards
South Annexe
Wallasey Town Hall
Brighton Street
Wallasey
Wirral
CH44 8ED
Tel: 0151 691 8638
Fax: 0151 691 8098

You could also contact the police fraud service which is Action Fraud Tel. 0300 123 2040

If anyone has any comments on the above then please let me know.

Can't see any arguments with that. Seems a fair assessment. Needs to be made a sticky thread and closed to comment.

All looks good apart from one minor typo

Para 6

The company is currently being liquidated and if you are owed money or goods by the company you show send details to the liquidators as follows along with any concerns about the company's conduct:

I've been reading these threads without any comment as I'm not involved in any way but I have to say I wish everyone the best of luck in their fight to get their money &/or precious items (and sanity) back from this Jekyll & Hyde character.

Sanity is the word Peter.
I have donated photo's and other stuff to the Safc Museum which is in Sunderland Library . It's very good if anyone is in Town. I'd rather some people get some enjoyment looking at them. I only wished i gave the lot away , either way i'd have no money, but at least others would have got to see them . I have kept hold of a large collection of pre war and some very nice North East non league. Incredibly i considered passing these on to FSA for the December auction , but stopped as i hadn't been paid September. Very lucky escape. I have no need to sell them now, so i'll put them away and may add to it one day ,but at the moment i have no interest .
