As mentioned elsewhere, here is a new thread were members can post old, interesting or unusual adverts from their collection of programmes.

I don't have a lot of time today, but just to start things off, here is an advert from the back cover of the late 30s Blackpool home programmes.

This advertises the Manchester Hotel, still a regular haunt for away fans, and the now defunct brewery of Catterall and Swarbreck.

This advert from the Barnsley 1978-79 programme for the National Coal Board.

The words seem very hollow now - within a few years the industry in the town had all but disappeared

From a 1972/3 West Ham programme, the car as a ten year old I hoped I would one day own. Turned out I had a Viva and then a Marina, both had a vinyl roof though Cool

Ah, a Ford Capri....... back in the 70's a few of us would take it in turns to drive to Palace away games, one bloke had a Capri which was only any good if there were 2 or 3 of us at a pinch. Anyway, I lost contact with the Capri owner till we met up again in 2006 - and he still had the same Ford Capri! I'm seeing him again at Wembley on Sunday - I'll see if he has it a further 10 years down the line.

I'm sure someone on here will know what a "chitterling" is!

Sometimes, as a father, you have to sit the young 'un down and tell him straight.

Just as this Leeds dad did back in 1946....

Yuk!
I'd rather go without if that was all that was on offer!

It sounded Indian to me - reminiscent of the Raj (like kedgeree...which is very tasty).

I like a bacon roll as much as the next person but I'm not going to eat its floppy bits!

November 1937 - I'll let you guess whose programme this ad came from.
