Very sad to hear of the death of former Chelsea, Blackpool and Burnley midfielder Ian Britton.

He was a favourite at Bloomfield Road during his 3 seasons there and won a promotion playing under Sam Ellis.

A lovely footballer who I had the pleasure to chat to at a charity match in 2013.

RIP Ian.

Here's a photo of Ian Britton playing for the "Dingles" against Tranmere in 1989, a fixture that wouldn't have been played if he hadn't headed that goal v Orient.

Yesterday wasn't a great day for pint-sized people!

RIP Ian.

So sad to hear the news about Ian Britton.
I first saw him play when I started going to Stamford Bridge as a kid during the 1976/77 promotion season. Although small in stature he was a combative hard working midfielder who spent nearly 10 years at Chelsea scoring 34 goals in 289 appearances.
