Hello, I have recently acquired a nice set of more than 20 Glasgow Rangers original player press photos from the 1960s, issued at the time by the Sportapics press agency of Clarkston, Glasgow.

I have heard of nearly all of the players, but one of them is less well known to me, a goalkeeper called Norrie Martin.
Can any of our Rangers collectors help with some details? thanks.

Will try to attach his pic and also a pic of John Greig from the set.

Thanks Martino, most informative, sounds like he was very unlucky: " during a period which saw them [Rangers] collect 13 major honours, the unfortunate Martin did not have a single senior winners’ medal to show for his efforts."

Sorry mate, can't help too much on Norrie. He left Rangers a couple of years before I started following so I never seen him play in person. He was at Rangers at a time when they had very good keepers including Billy Ritchie. He was very unlucky with injuries too.

His career is listed here on the Neil Brown website (RIP)

Thanks to Texas and Pete for the info. Just 75 games in 12 years at Ibrox tells its own story. Sounds like he was the perpetual understudy.

I saw Norrie Martin play, I think he took over from Billy Ritchie around 1967.

Cheers, yes doing some more reading it appears he was in a three way tussle with Kai Johansden and Gerry Neef for the number 1 shirt between the goalkeeping reigns of Billy Ritchie and Peter McCloy,

Kai Johannsen was a right fullback the other keeper was Erik Sorenson.

Neef and Sorensen if my memory serves me correctly, were never able to make the number one shirt their own, Peter McCloy signed in 1971 and ousted them all.

Yip, King Kai with that famous cup winning goal. Sorensen, another Dane was the other goalkeeper.
