Just noticed the kick-off time. Unusual?

Probably no floodlights -was it the 3-day week or some other crisis around then?

Perhaps, Pete - but I thought that was during season 73/74.

On the same day, 12 Feb 72, Palace were at home to Coventry also with a 2:45 kick off. Bert Head's programme notes said

Under the Tory Government of 1970-74 disputes happened every winter so this was just another example.

13th February 1911 (105 years ago - a tad before my time...)

London League (Premier Division, Section B)

Att: no idea

Chelsea reserves v Crystal Palace reserves

I have no information about this game nor any photos of any of the players. All I know is that Chelsea finished 3rd with 20 points from 14 matches, and Palace 4th with 15 points.

My offering of the 9th February 1972 Leeds v Liverpool was brought forward from 7.30pm to 2.30pm due to the miners strike

Pete, looking at the London League table in the following weeks Chelsea programmes it looks as if this game finished 0-0

Chelsea wiki website covers quite a few seasons including this one in the London League. Smile

Hull City v Brentford - FA Cup 5th Round - att. 29,709 - 2-1 to the Tigers. Sad

I also have a ticket! Shocked

Even a little video of the goals......... Brentford took the lead, through Bobby Ross, 1-0 half time. Hull equalise and then get a dodgy winner! Foul on the keeper surely?! Mad

Ah, the power cuts!
As a kid, thought they were great fun.
Huddled round a transistor radio with only candles for light.

Is that the Brentford 'keeper who has autographed the front cover of the programme?
His hand looks a little bit shaky - maybe he did take a pummelling on that cross. Certainly looks like it on the video.

Blimey, is it really 45 years since that Colchester game?

I listened to it on the radio in the air-raid shelter in my grandmother's back garden. It wasn't demolished until about 1978 and, as kids, we used it as a den.

I'd forgotten all about that until just now when I saw the cover you scanned!

The last season Everton were out of the top league? I think so.
Never a dull moment in this match

Derby 2 (Dunn 2)
Everton 6 (Hickson, Lindsay pen, Wainwright 3, Parker)

att: 17,657 (according to the Everton records)......or 16,444 (according to the Derby records). Take your pick!
