Hi all. Can any LFC/ticket experts identify this Liverpool cup match ticket? It's similar to others I have from 1980s but I've no idea which match this one's from.

Very difficult one to identify as LFC quite often didn't print important details such as the date or the opposition on their tickets in the 80s. Quite often the only means of identification is if someone has physically wrote the details on the back OR if it has been kept with the original programme. My guess would be around 1983/85 which narrows it down to about 8 teams!

Is there anything on the back - usually should have part of a plan of the ground which should help date it roughly.

I have loads of these and they are a serious pain in the arse to identify.

Thanks both - yes, a massive pain in arse to identify. I have a couple of others but these are earlier and annotated or came with progs.

swnydwr - this is the back, showing back of Kop. Any clues?

Looks similar to my Liverpool v Brentford ticket from the 1988-89 season when we played at Anfield in the quarter finals of the FA Cup.

So it could be any from the mid to late 1980's IMO.

On season 88/89 league tickets the development association area is one solid block so prior to that.

87/88 league tickets have development area as 2 blocks
86/87 league tickets have old souvenir shop in that area

Going off this I would guess possibly Blackburn League cup 87/88 or stoke fa cup - only 2 homes games in the cup that season - my stoke one from that season has details written on and is blue

Is there any way of telling what match it's for? I'd like one (or more) from the Dundalk game, but there doesn't seem to be any way to be confident you're getting the right ticket!

Thanks Jim, I'd forgotten about that stupendously good website. Certainly looks like the Alkmaar one on lfcineurope.com i wonder if the seller was being a little michievous adding an extra club into the lising!

I think he probably was! I have a mystery ticket also for the one of the games from that era. It could be

Az Alkmaar 81/82
Dundalk 82/83
Helsinki 82/83

Frustrating!!

On a slightly different topic, is the lfcineurope website 100% sure all its tickets without teams printed on are definitely from the games they're pictured in relation to?

For example, I'm 99.9% certain the ticket for 67/68 Ferencváros away shown on the relevant page there is not from that match so it would interesting to know more, that's all.
