Tricky cove is the 30th.

Surprisingly high crowd of 19,064 turned up to see a 2-2 draw between two mid-table sides.

Perhaps there was nothing on the telly.

I'll get in early, too, seeing as how tomorrow is likely to be rather hectic.

Derby 2 (Dix, Astley)
Villa 1

att: 25,759

I wonder how many people realised what 1939 had in store when they wished one another a happy new year a few hours after the final whistle?

Anyway - a happy new year to one and all on this forum.
May 2016 bring you and your team everything you hope for.
Never forget - it's only a game Smile

66 years ago (1949/50 season) and a 1st Division fixture between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Blackpool.

A very good 12 page programme was issued, full of reading and information, with the only adverts being on the inside front and back covers and the outside back cover.

The downside to this programme is that is doesn't show opponents or a date on the cover which I always find strange when clubs don't include these.

When I have designed programme covers in the past, the date and opponents (together with the nature of the fixture) has always been an essential part of a cover.

Wolves won 1-0 in front of 51,000 spectators.

New Years Eve 1960

Rotherham 1 Leeds United 3

The prolific John McCole and two own goals making up the Leeds score in front of 12,557. McCole would play a few games for Rotherham later in his career

Happy New Year to all forum members, all the best for 2016

New Years Eve 1988

Hampshire League Division 2

Warsash 2 Cowes Sports 5

Attendance about 40 as I recall, including a half dozen from Cowes. Proper rough crowd these were at the time, but pleasingly they still persevered with putting out programmes. Cowes ended the season in 3rd and got promoted, Warsash dropped out of the Hampshire League that year, never to return.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
