Hi all.

I’m wondering whether it’s worth getting this programme restored, as I have no idea of value.

From the South Africans (whites only) tour of UK 1924 (more info on that tour can be found here: http://thehamlethistorian.blog.....-tour.html )

This was the penultimate game of the tour. I’ve never noticed another programme from this tour advertised for sale, but I’m sure they do exist (I haven’t looked too hard, although none come up on a Google image search).

Programme is 8 pages, printed on good quality (almost glossy) paper. Spine of cover has 80% split. Top staple rusty (with stains to paper), bottom staple missing (minimal paper loss but rust stains to paper). Has previously been creased lengthways in half, although this only really shows on back cover. Very slight tearing at edges of some pages but overall really not too bad (aside from the spine issues).

Norfolk team comprised four Norwich City players, four Kings Lynn players, one from Cromer, one from Yarmouth and one from City Wanderers.

Any thoughts on value/scarcity/desirability to collectors?

A lovely item, very hard to put a value on it. If i was an auctioneer i would estimate at £180-£200, but would would not be surprised to see it fetch more.

I sold a standard Lynn home from a similar era in worse condition for £100 a few years ago. With the Norwich connections it could be a popular item.

Villa v South Africa on eBay.

A bit overpriced.

Last ones sold on eBay went for £60 (March 2012) & £37 (November 2015)

Hi all - many thanks for your help and info.

1980Cossie - I actually used to work for Invaluable (for a few months - they're based on the Isle of Wight) - unfortunately that doesn't mean I get any free access...

Food for thought. This is one of the oldest progs I have, so might look into restoration to make it a bit more handleable. I've seen the previous threads on restoration, so will maybe peruse them again.

Thanks again all.

Toby
