19th October 1963

Football League, Division III

Att: 17,458

Oldham Athletic 3 Crystal Palace 1 (Burridge)

Keeper Bill Glazier moves to collect from the feet of A's Colin Barlow, as from left, Ronnie Allen, Brian Wood, Don Townsend (partly hidden) and Terry Long, give cover. Palace wore amber & black and were promoted at the end of the season. They had so much success on the road in amber shirts in 63/4 that they adopted them in home games for a while. Sadly that didn't apply at Boundary Park.

From that wonderful Oldham cover that Pete put up to the other extreme.

Still, an unusual fixture and, going by the lineup (in the programme at least) a more or less full-strength Brighton side.

Only 4 pages to the programme - the fixture was to commemorate the opening of the home club's new dressing rooms.

39 years ago - AEK Athens v Derby in the UEFA Cup.

Would that I owned an original but this is only a reproduction.

Rumour has it that these 4 page programmes were free and only available to those in the main stand. They were laid on each seat prior to the match....but there was a bit of a breeze that night and most blew away!

I've only ever seen one (presumably original) come up for sale in the last 39 years.

Joint testimonial match for Ralph Hann and Jack Parry.
Derby won 2-1.

Still can't quite believe the Baseball Ground is no more.
Perhaps I choose not to?

Love the fact that there is no mention on the cover of the players receiving the testimonial!

Had several enjoyable days out at the Baseball Ground following Spurs (and the 8-2 thrashing). Compact and loud with a dangerous corrugated fenced alley on the way in as I recall.

OK, I confess, I was young and, yes, it was me what made those punched holes.
I genuinely thought it would be a neat way of filing programmes......

44 years ago - no mention on the cover that this is a friendly but it was, Swindon's new player-manager inviting his former team mates down to the County Ground.

6,236 in attendance to watch a 1-1 draw, Frank Wignall on target for the Rams.

Might the capitalised "ONLY" suggest that Goodison Park was being plagued with pirate programme sellers at that time?

Everton 1 Derby 2

att: 38,020

Everton down to 19th in the table, Rams up to 13th.

1971/72 FA Amateur Cup 3rd Qualifying Round

Worsbrough Bridge v Blyth Spartans - described in the programme as "probably the most important game ever staged at the Park Road Ground". Bridge weren't a regular issuer and I haven't seen a home programme earlier than this - has anyone out there seen an earlier issue ?

Interestingly Worsbrough Bridge have just left their Park Road ground to play at Grimethorpe in the Northern Counties East League Division One

Testimonial match from 36 years ago.

Newport 3 Derby 2

I think the attendance was 2,580 - but I can't read my own handwriting from all those years ago...
