Reading about people doing the 92 grounds got me thinking, one thing I'd like to do is visit all the cathedrals of England.

I've been to about ten so far but I'd like to start again at some point and do it properly, recording it all as I go along.

Has anyone else done anything similar?

I know a bloke who's doing that, he has no connection with football, and he's doing Scotland too. He started up North and is gradually heading South. I'm not sure what sort of records he keeps but could find out.

I've been locked up in quite a few towns, but unlike footy grounds or cathedrals, once you've seen the inside of one prison cell, you really have seen them all.

I have been swimming in 160 pools around the UK since 1986 - some of which have now closed down

Reading your post I thought I'd see how many I have visited in England over the years, and it seems that out of just the Church of England ones there are only about 3 I have not visited.

And I never realised Middlesbrough had a Roman Catholic Catherdral.

I have done a lot more Wetherspoons though, over 200 up to now.

I'd be interested to know what he is keeping record wise.

Obviously I can have a photo taken outside each one, and I could always buy a keepsake from each such as a guide book but I'd probably need to take out a mortgage to afford these!

Ha Ha I was waiting for a reply like that! I was trying to make the point that as with Football, things change over the course of time. Clubs go out out of business and some matches that were possible say 30 years ago may not be possible now in the same way that swimming pools/leisue centres get closed through lack of use or better facilities are built nearby.

Since 1978 I have had a pint (at least) in every licensed premises of every description in Rhyl and Prestatyn that have been/still are open. This thread got me thinking how many of them have since closed or been demolished - quite a trip down Memory Lane! Laughing

Back in 87', there were 595 public houses in Sheffield and the surrounding area, that year we attempted to visit everyone but my mate and me were lightweights and could only manage 548.

To be fair you'd have to have a death wish to visit some of these.

This was before all day opening, at a time when we trained at football twice a week, played indoor cricket, match saturday, played sunday and went down town three nights a week, and usually took in a couple of bands as well.

And he wonders why he never made it as a professional footballer and I wondered why I was always skint.

I believe with the advent of time, and the loss of many drinking establishments there are only 4 pubs left from that time we still haven't been in.

I always had a hankering to "do" each and every London Underground station.

But that's difficult living in Aberdeen....

Would have thought the combination of a) how different each one is and b) the use of the same logo despite that would appeal to those with a groundhopping predilection.

I'm not even sure how many stations there are - probably more than I realise.

Well, I'm gobsmacked, Pete.
I'd have said there were maybe 150 stations at the most.
But I suppose more people live in the area than in the whole of Scotland...

Did you ever see "Death Line"?
I just wondered if the "Mind the Doors" instruction was for real or made up by the film-makers as a clever line for the cannibal to say....

I don't remember hearing "Mind the Doors" but "Mind the Gap" is still commonplace.
